What about using some form of riser to put this on top of to give it some extra height and be able to put it behind one of the other pieces? You might also be able to paint the base to give it a sandy color. I'm not sure how difficult it would be, but there are some spray paints that have like a gravelly rock type texture, maybe if there is some fo that in a beige color you might be able to spray paint the base. Although the height of the pillar is still a problem, that might help two of the three problems.

Wicked.

Agent, I just might do something like that.

I admit I was taken a bit aback by this initially, but the more I think about it, the more I realize that I just CAN'T pass up a Padmé diorama sculpted by His Highness, the Trevolver.

And if His Highness could chime in with some info on the way the pillar base is connected to the black base, so much the better!

I actually adore Padmé, and was initially excited that she got her own dio. Especially since Trev sculpted her, and she looks really, really good. Plus, the entire balance of her and Nexu and the chain is masterfully handled.

Still -- there's something about the truncated pillar set into the black base that just doesn't sit right with me. I know that they did it to save some display space, and they have a point there. I'm just not wild about that choice. (And I do have a large, tall display space reserved for the SW dioramas, and was looking to place this one behind one of the ground-level pieces. Now I can't do that.)

I'll have to think about it. And see if one comes along for $150 or less. Also, the final ES will factor into my decision.

Perhaps if the black base is removable, a pillar extension and sand base could be made as an alternative here... although I'm not holding my breath.

P.S. MF, I see your points about Reek and Acklay, and they're valid. Still, I think you're reaching when you say that Padmé is the only one needed from the scene...

Well I don't mean she's the only one needed, I'm just saying from the moment of execution to when Yoda and troops swoop in and it turns into a battle, Padme is the only character that really shows off WHO she is, Obi-Wan and Anakin just show their battle skills.

As for the base of this, you're not going to be able to remove it. Ani-Obi has the same thing and it's just all molded together, the only separte pieces on these dios are the people/creatures.

Looking at the pics especially the HR pics. This thing is just awesome! The base issue isn't an issue 4 me. 2 me you get plenty of impact.

The base matches all the other dioramas, so it should look great with the others.

Well, I have the Obi-Ani diorama, so yeah, I know about the base. I was just reaching myself, thinking that the black base could be removable...

I'm still very much in two minds about this piece. And cheapest I can find it is $180, which isn't properly enticing...

Great job sideshow , especially the esculpture of padme , but i prefer buy the diorama of obi vs anakin , or waith another as the luke vs vader !!:chew

Does look nice but those hairs on the back could be a shipping issue.

Could be, surprising how some of the large pieces with simplistic elements end up with shipping issues, but my ALIEN diorama came so wrapped packed and everything, the only way it would get broken is if someone broke it before or during the wrapping up for packaging, but once it was in it was safe, so I have confidence this can ship without issue but it wouldn't surprise me if there were some problems. Thankfully Sideshow CS will step up and take care of things if there are problems.
