Hey all was just wondering If anyone has picked this up on the PSN. I have never played a Persona game and it looks really interesting. My biggest concern is how does it hold up today? Is it still fun to play?

Still good. If you've never played Persona game before, this is a pretty good place to start, I'd say. Then move onto 4 and the originals, if you like.

I still think it is one of the better JRPGs of the last ten years.

Yeah never played one before. I'm a huge fan of RPGs and Love me a good JRPG so looks like Ill forsure have to try this one out. Thanks!

I can't recommend the FES followup to Persona 3. It's a dreadfully dull grind with a bad story. However, just plain Persona 3 and 4 are excellent and I highly recommend them.

Are you kidding? There's too much extra stuff in FES over the original. I've never heard of anybody choosing the original over it (and by "it", I mean the FES retail release over the original release)

edit: Oh, I read your post again, you're specifically talking about "The Answer" expansion found in FES. I still recommend it.

More Personas

A Hard Mode option

More S Links

Weapon Fusion

New Equipment, Quests, Social Links and little things.

Added "The Answer" and "Episode Aigis"

Still you don't have to play "The Answer"... it's just a bonus. There is no reason to get the original P3 over FES.

I like P4 better though.

Yeah I was specifically referring to The Answer. The bonus content that the normal 3 received in the FES expansion is sweet though. Going for the PSP version of 3 is probably the ideal choice. In the grand scheme of things, Persona 4 is far superior in every way though. If you only have the time to invest in one, I would just go straight to that one. If you find you enjoyed it, 3 will still be quite enjoyable when played after.

But Persona 4 has Chie and Naoto and those two make everything better :D

I can't wait for Arena. I am going to love playing that game.

I think I preferred Mitsuru most, and of course, Aigis.

I do want Arena... but going to wait for price to drop. I think it looks better than their previous effort, BlazBlue. Not sure why they didn't just mesh all P3 and P4 characters together.

Meh it's not too difficult to be better than Blazblue. Arena looks excellent to me. Maybe not up there with Guilty Gear but it still looks incredibly solid and I have high hopes :D

could someone explain what persona is? it seemed really unconventional when i looked at it before, but i've heard really good things. trying to decide whether i should pick it up or not. if it matters i love me some final fantasy.

It's a really lackluster RPG that got amazing sequels and recently basically got a reboot with persona 3, which shocked a lot of gamers because it was a surprisingly interesting JRPG, complete with a great story and character interactions. It has an upbeat urban style to it that really contrasts with your typical video game so it tends to be really popular with anime fans and teenagers and young adults. Strangely enough, it is a spin off to a series of very dark and gritty JRPGs.

If you're interested, just go buy Persona 4 for PS2. It's incredible.

I don't know a thing about the Persona series. But, I bought the special edition of Persona 3 FES back in 2008, and I still haven't opened it. I'm not kidding. It's still in its factory shrink wrap... somewhere in my house :rotfl.
