Polystone repair -- Sauron -- Please help!

We have an extensive Sideshow collection. The centerpeice is the magnificent Sauron statue. This morning, when taking out the garbage, I brushed past that magnificent statue, knocking his head to the ground where it smashed into 100 pieces. I'm horrified. (Not to mention, in deep trouble, unless I can figure out how to get it fixed.) Are there any polystone experts out there? Can anyone help me get this fixed?

A pic may help in determining the best fix for your situation. It also doesn't hurt to put in a call to Sideshow directly, perhaps they can set you up with a replacement.

Wouldn't buying a Sauron helm fix it? I think it's the exact same thing, same scale and everything. So unless the "neck" is also broken, replacing with a helm would fix it, right? Anyone, anyone?

Sorry, I thought the helm sizes were compatible. As you may have already guessed, I don't OWN the Sauron helm (but I do have Sauron!).

I called Sideshow. Since it is a limited edition, there are no replacement pieces. They recommended I call local hobby shops and find a polystone repair expert. I've been trying that, but I thought I'd also look online.

There are many customizers and artists who are members of this board. Not to offend anyone else who have the capabilities, but the very first person to come into my mind is member "RickDTM". He has done some exceptional fixes for our folks. You might want to PM him to see if he'd be willing (time-wise) to assist or maybe even give you a tutorial on doing it yourself.

Ironically, I had a similar problem with my Sauron helm a couple months back. My 5 year-old nephew tried to pick it up and the helm came of, bending 2 spikes and breaking the other ones. I've been looking for people to fix my helm or even send me a spare (of course I'd pay for it), but I haven't had any luck. Shrader. if you find someone who can fix your helm, please PM, for I'd like to get mine fixed as well. I really don't want to spend another $300 on ebay just for a spare helm.

I'm assuming since you are asking for advice that you've never done any repair or modelling work. If this is the case and you are asking for advice on how to do it yourself, I'm afraid it won't turn out so nice since good work usually requires some previous experience. I would recommend trying a couple models first or a Games Workshop starter kit. Getting a good repairer may be cost prohibitive with shipping and repair fees involved considering you can pickup a new Sauron Statue on eBay for around $180 or so plus shipping.

I would also recommend putting up a picture in this thread. It would help in evaluating your repair requirements.

One of my favorite films of all times too!

I do have a cam and I'll take pics soon. It isn't exactly 100 pieces, but it did fragment into too many delicate pieces for me to glue back together.

I'm actually hoping to find someone I can pay to do it for me. (You're right, I've never done modelling work, so I'd make a big mess.)

Do you think it'd just be cheaper to buy a new one?

It depends on how bad it is. Someone can probably give you a better answer once you post the pictures.

LOTRSWFan was also doing some repair work but since his last transaction didn't go too well he might not be in the mood anymore.

RickDTM's work is awesome!

You're probably talking about a regular old CA-type superglue for the big pieces, and Aves Apoxie to fill in missing pieces. You can find Aves Apoxie on the web, just google it.

Paint with acrylic paint available at any hobby shop (it washes off if you're not satisfied). Final seal with a flat spray.

Take your time.

Keep acetate handy in case you glue your fingers together, but don't let it touch Sauren, it'll strip the paint.
