HI guys, was wondering if any of you own one of these portable photo studio.

I'm planning on getting one for myself. There are ones that cost like 40 or 50 bucks, but they say that it's for small objects. The one on the picture says its 24 " tall apparently. I want it to take pics of my 12" figures.

Anny advise?

Thanks

I've got one that size and it works just fine for 12'' figures. Mine is the kind that folds in on itself, I think it's called a "light cube", but it's basically the same thing.

I've got one of the fold out tent types ones, it's pretty cool but bear in mind while you're shopping that you'll need pretty bright lamps to shine through them decently. Office desk lamps might not be bright enough.

I actually have one just like what you have pictured there.
The lights come with it and work great, but are very fragile.
So handle with care, for I tipped both of mine over and broke the
bulbs. Also, an extra top light would make it a complete light box
if you can find another light like the others.

I also flip that blue background for the white one. It has velcro on it
and can be flipped over. The blue background just doesn't work that well
for figure shoots.

You can DIY these really easy. Just a matter of skinning some little frames with diffusion. The little lamps look cheap.

Fantastic! I wonder if anyone has some pics they've taken with their portable studio.

Here's a few.

WOW man, those pics looks bad ass, they really make the figure stand out! THanks! I'm getting one of those ! I'm sold! hahaa

Keep in mind, a good camera is needed to. The light boxes
for sure help with proper lighting and little or no shadows.
But if you use a camera phone, it will still look like crap...:lol

Hahahaha, you're right, I have a dslr so I'm ok!
The only thing is that I live in Montreal, so its hard to get good lighting during winter, and I have to wait till saturday to take my pictures with sun light, so with this, I can take them any time I want! Even at 3 am when I come back from the bar! ;)
