Conger,
I was studying Psycholgy/Pre-Med during my undergraduate studies, and during my coursework began working with individuals with developmental disabilities. After I graduated, I still needed to take Chemistry, so I was taken a series of classes while working. I enjoyed the chemistry, but not nearly as much as I enjoyed working with the students I was helping, so I shifted gears. I hope to work towards a Ph.D. in psych, with a focus on Developmental Disabilities soon. I loved Biology, Physics, and Anatomy and Physiology, but Chemistry was my stumbling block. The amount of memorization without any sort of integration or application in the beggining of Bio-chem lost me, and I struggled to keep interest. If you ever want to borrow old notes or stuff that I may have available, let me know and I will see what I can scrounge up. Be prepared for a lot of hard work, though, and any volunteer experience or work experience in the field would be a huge plus to know if you like the work and help make you a more attractive candidate!
