I'm currently bidding on as aliens powerloader diorama from sideshow.
I've just asked the seller what postage costs will be to Australia from America. He claims that USPS will not ship the item because it is too big. Surely this cannot be correct, is it really that big or is this guy just being a jerk about posting overseas.

You can go to the usps website and look up and see if there is any size restriction.

I just did and it's all cool for the actual box size, but I have no idea what size box he's putting it in or why for that matter.
Apparently I can get a guitar delivered to Australia from the states but not this diorama.
I know we have sending restrictions in Australia through standard post.

dano669 I had the same problems with a lot of items I won on ebay from the US. The seller ended up saying that the item was too big to send and I had to cancel a few items I won.
Now I just get the items sent to a friend of mine in the US and get him to send it to me.
If I could get the Thor and Thing PF (These boxes are huge, if you haven't seen them before) sent to me from the US via USPS then I'm sure your diorama should be no sweat. The hardest part is finding a seller willing to send them items. Good luck with your auction.

i tried to send a hulk PF to Australia once through the post office and they laughed at me. they said the item was to big. ups wanted over 600.00 for the delivery fee. fedex shipped it for 500.00... so sometimes the parcel is too big.

Hi :wave

I'm the jerk :wink1:

The length + girth of the power loader box is 92".
USPS has a size limit of 79" to Australia...so its definitely out of the question to ship via USPS. Certain countries such as Germany, Canada, and France (to name a few) have a size limit of 109".
The only reason I didn't mention UPS or FedEx is because the cost to ship will be more expensive than the cost of the item (RUMADMAN pointed that out).

I do apologize I can't ship to your country, wish they didn't have size restrictions...but there's nothing I can do about it.

Is that pretty clear?

Far enough I stand very much corrected. I apologize for calling you a jerk mate. I just don't understand how I've gotten whole guitars from the states yet can't get this figure.
It really sucks that I can't get this diorama, I was going to bid on your queen as well.

I'm a foot in mouth sufferer.
It's a terrible affliction

It's getting to be that anybody ordering anything from the US who lives in another country should really expect to pay out the arse! Or not even try. Man oh man. I remember back in the good old days, before 9/11, before gas went up that this was never, ever an issue. Now, you just ship a small box, a small friggin box to Canada, expect to pay $50.00. And make sure you send it as a gift otherwise your buyer gets hit with import duty. Its criminal. I feel for you dano669.

Don't worry about it..
its all good :peace

Wish I could sell to you, believe me!

So if I purchase these large items through sideshow are the shipping costs going to be that high as well.
I'm interested in the big chap statue but I don't want to order it if it's goig to cost me hundreds of dollars to get here

I have sold lots of stuff on eBay myself, and I always groan when I see somebody in Australia won. Not because I don't like Ausies, but because your country is one of the biggest pains in the butt to ship to from the U.S. Some places must just be harder to get to. Singapore is another, and of course nearly 1/3 of what I sell seems to go there.

Hey it sucks more for us, were the ones who have pay the shipping costs lol. All you have to be is the bearer of bad news. It's probably for this reason that never see Aussies selling their SS stuff.

SS actually has cheaper rates than USPS :exactly:

I'm in Australia and the best shipping rates you will get will be from SS.So the money you might save on a purchase from an on-line e-tailer you will lose in postage. But thats only good for new stuff if your chasing sold-out items and go to e-bay thats were you get hurt with postage. There is alot of SS stuff in Australia you just have to look for it then add up the extra you pay compared to the international postage you would pay.
