You mean to tell me I am reading that calculator incorrectly all this time? All my dolls are off!!!?

All your dolls are off. šŸ˜„

I'm not doing any math. I'm reading the calculator. The right side that says Converted 1/6 to 1/1. Below that says "Foot". The value that shows on your example for Humungus shows 6.6929. I read that as 6' 7'' (rounding the 69 to 7)... why is that not right?

A calculator by definition shouldn't give you more math to do.

I think you're adding additional portion of an adjusted inch.

Your 80.314'' is correct for the Humungus doll's height -- it also translates to 6 foot 7 inches

I don't see why you're adding an additional 8.314 inch.

One foot = 12 inches.

80.314 divided by 12 = 6.69.

That's 6 feet plus 0.69 of a foot.

0.69 of 12 inches is 8.314".

It's easier to think of 6 feet being 72 inches.

If you have a height of 80.314 inches, then that's 72 plus 8.314, or 6 feet and 8.314 inches.

I'm not a mathematician, haven't used it since college, so none of your math does anything for me.

I understand inches and what you need for a foot. What I'm having trouble with is the conversion from inches to cms I suppose, which is what the calculator is supposed to do. I don't use cms regularly.

But here's simpler match -- in 1/6th, 2 inches = one foot -- 12 inches = 6 feet... so let's just say Humungus 6 foot 7 inches tall (I know he's 6'4'' but let's just say)... so the doll needs to be 12 inches tall (for 6 feet) PLUS another 7 inches tall converted down to 1/6th which is... another 1.16 inches (according to my reading of the calculator)... so his doll height in inches is: 13.16 inches.

Is that not right?

Yes that's right.

13.16" x 6 = 78.96" = 6.58' = 6' 6.96" (or 6' 7" rounded up).

Is the above correct?

Does 80.314 inches = 6 foot 7 inches.

No.

Because 6 foot is 72 inches, which leaves a remainder of 8.314".

Hence, 6' 8.314".

80.314" in 1/6 is 13.385".

13.385" x 2.54 = 34 cm (the height of Premier's figure).

And you're saying that 13.38 inches translates to over 6'8''.... is that what you're saying?

It is what it is. The numbers don't lie.

The scale calculator converts to the decimal equivalent of feet, not feet and inches.

Hence 5.9 isn't 5' 9" but 5 and nine tenths of a foot.

Ah... there it is.

So 34cms is NOT 13.16 inches?

In other words, this Humungus is going to be way too tall.

On Max, he would have to be 11.66 inches to translate to 5'10''... is that correct?

Inches to 1/6 I can do... adding the extra cm challenge is clearly too much for me.

Decimal feet doesn't equal inches. 0.7 foot is seven tenths of a foot, i.e a foot divided into ten pieces. There are 12 inches in a foot, not 10. Decimal feet * 12 will give you inches, 0.7*12 = 8.4 inches. This is one large reason metric is much, much easier

No, it's definitely 13.385".

As rocbolt just reiterated you have to work out the inches from the tenths that the calculator shows.

With the 5.9' result:

One tenth of 12" is 1.2".

9 x 1.2 = 10.8".

Or 0.9 x 12" = 10.8".

In other words, this Humungus is going to be way too tall.

He's going to be massive.

On Max, he would have to be 11.66 inches to translate to 5'10''... is that correct?

Yes, that's right.

5' 10" = 70" / 6 = 11.66".

Yep, just realized that's what I did. That is a much easier way of putting it, thank you.

It's easier to work in metric, since the calculator is decimal based.

But whenever I think of height it's always imperial. I never think of someone being 1.8288 metres tall, because it's much easier to visualise 6 foot.

OK, so now I'm concerned that a character that supposed to be about 6'3'' is now going to be towering at 6'8''

I don't trust myself to do the conversion now, so Asta would you please show in inches how tall Humungus should be at 6'3''... and how tall he will be at 6'8''...?

I guess we have the 6'8'' height already: 13.38 inches tall

6' 3" is 75".

75" / 6 = 12.5"

Good, I actually had that right.

So Humungus should be 12.5 inches tall on the shelf... but Premier is giving us a monster at 13.38 inches tall. He'll definitely be impressive. Good thing there's no direct height comparison in the movie -- I suppose he could be 6'8''

And what is 12.5 inches in centimeters? The body height we would need to make him accurate to the actor?

Is it 31.75 cms?

So a 32cm body would be more accurate than the 34cm body we're getting.

Kjell Nilsson's peak height is estimated to have been 6' 2 1/2", so the difference is even greater.

https://www.celebheights.com/s/Kjell-Nilsson-49773.html

74.5" / 6 = 12.416".

80.385" / 6 = 13.385".

= 0.9698" too tall.

So about an inch taller than he should be, depending whether they're calculating body height or total height including boots and mask.
