After the inArt interview and seeing they want to do Anime, I really wish they tackle Berserk in the future after they finish all the deserving and popular characters that have yet to be represented in 1/6, I just started collecting last year and researching everything about anything, really bummed out to find I missed on threezeero's Guts, literally the only Anime I watched..

I really wish one day, Gut's is there in 1/6 from inArt or 3Z gives us yet another batch.

Would absolutely love a Golden Arc Guts, so many options of displaying him from his normal look without armor, armored up, with his cloak. A man can only dream :lol

Definitely referencing to the Pandora's Box in A Chinese Odyssey by Stephen Chow.

It was one of his best work that mixes comedy, slap stick humor (mo lei tau as the Hong Kongers called it), drama and a tragic love story in a 2 parts movie.

The gist of the story is an alternative telling of the Journey to the West where the Monkey King (Sun Wukong played by Stephen Chow) was inccessantly frustrated with Tripikia (Monk)'s constant naggings and decides to betray him but was intercepted by other gods and was almost put down but a sacrificial play by the monk got him reincarnated as a human instead and that came with all the hijinks as the reincarnated Monkey King (now known as Joker) rediscovers himself and finds out his true destiny. If you have not watched it I would highly recommend watching it (with the original canto dub with English subtitles) because at one moment you find yourself laughing along and the other, find yourself emphatizing with Monkey's inevitable destiny.

This is the movie that showcases Stephen Chow's acting ability that he could also play dramatic roles (before that he was just known as a comedy actor which is very hard to shake off) which also influences his other roles in future movies that the Western side may know more such as Kung Fu Hustle and Shaolin Soccer.

Above all, this movie casted quite a few A-listers (or up and coming A-listers) that would dominate the Hong Kong film industry in the decades to come, which was rare even till today.

Have I also mentioned that the movie has some really good soundtrack?

The 'mo lei tau' part of the movie:

The drama part of the movie (which is also the cliffhanger of Part 1 of the movie so spoilers if you intend to watch this):

The tragic love story at its climax where Monkey King is forced to make a difficult choice (spoilers too):

I imagine a standard pack would consists of just the Monkey King which other companies have attempted before (both official and non official). An example of how he looks like in his Monkey King mode:

The Deluxe Pack would probably consists of Monkey King (with rooted hair) and Joker (human form with rooted hair)

You can see Joker holding the Pandora's Box here, which is basically a time travelling device in the movie. It may not resonate as well to the Western audience but I think this could be a hit with the Eastern audience, especially kids who grew up watching Stephen Chow's movies are now adults with earning power and wished to capture a moment of their childhood memories.

My....my man!! This is an awesome post that really breaks down why InArt doing this figure is significant!

To think we have people on FB rolling their eyes at this tease...

I’m like...yo! What about people like me? We LOVE this stuff because as much as the likes of Jim Carey, Eddie Murphy made an impact on Americans, Stephen Chow made an impact on Chinese.

This movie won awards and it really showcased Chow’s versatility. As much as I dislike Tarantino, he at least recognized the immense talent of Stephen.

I wanna see InArt have an equal focus on Asian legends in the future. This will separate them even further from HT.

Hell yes.

I want InArt produced Berserk.

Can someone help me out with something? I COULD HAVE sworn that they listed the properties they got their hands on and among them was King Of Fighters.

Can anyone help verify that for me?

Edit- NVM, found it!

Looking forward to that reveal!

I would very much like inart to get Ragnar Lotbrok out of Travis Fimmel.
There is no 1/6 figure of Ragnar, the only one that was planned by Chronicle collectibles fell into the water with the closure of the company.

I definitley hope we get more Asian actors or characters from films. I definitley want characters like Itto Igami from Lone Wolf and Cub, Zatoichi, Yojimbo. I can imagine how top quality those can look especially from InArt of course give me Anime too! Berserk, Vagabond, etc they'll look amazing.

Uh, if we're listing total pipe-dreams and non-cape/main pop culture wants, I'd love an ultra-mega-giga-deluxe Farrell Alexander 3K pack with 3 different looks, rooted hair, and Bucephalus, complete with real horse hair!

Although Troy Achilles/Hector and Gladiator Maximus/Commodus are far more likely.

Anyway, I'm always game for more "out there" licenses, even if I don't particularly care about each specific, so I don't mind this "intrusion". I'll take any Wukong over MerAmber and M4trix Neo (do Reloaded/Revolutions or go home), especially at IA prices. I just want my ******* DUNC dolls already. I swear to God if I see even more Batmen before a single DUNC dolly I'll... rant here and patiently wait to give IA my money like the pathetic whore I am, but you get the point...

Curious to see that they have all 3 Hobbit movies but only TFOTR. I seriously hope I didn't make a mistake passing on Aragorn and Gandalf to wait for the ROTK versions...

I also spy Harry Potter 7 and all 3 Fantastic Beasts movies. I'd probably buy Jude Law and Mads Mikkelsen, but after how bad the 3rd bombed, I doubt they'd make them. I'd still really want them though...

I don't even care for Harry Potter. But Grindelwald would be an easy stand-in for Hannibal in case we never get him (or Human Dormammu if the MCU never uses him again, or Doom if the MCU screws up the casting there; so many Madses to choose from!), and Jude Law has been my fancast for so many characters since the 90s/00s that I could chuck him anywhere. Also I like them as actors and based on just aesthetics. Apart from Fassbender and of course The Cruise they're the only other ones I'd buy just because of who they are.

I also did not mentioned that BTS there's also a love story brewing between the two leads too back then, which also highly influences Stephen Chow's state of mind and his future films from that point onwards. This was the movie that shapes Stephen Chow as a person we know today.

I think when collectors mentioned they want 'diversity' (nOt AnOTeHer IRONaaNm) I guess they only want 'diversity' on their wishlist, not what companies feel like they want to do or tackle.

Ignorance or even racism from Western collectors aside, some of the collectors may be very new or young to the collecting scene because for a while when I started collecting figures, Asian stars were highly coveted but the technology/sculpting isn't there. Remember Hot Toys music line of Leslie Cheung, Wong Ka Kui (Beyond)? Enterbay's Bruce Lee and Chow Yun Fatt? We have just as many bad sculpts of Asian stars from both official and non official sources until it just stopped because of various factors.

The recent Asian figures 'resurgence' (Tony Leung from Shang Chi, Don Lee from Eternals, Louis Koo and Sean Lau from Warriors of Future) is also giving some collectors hope that these old figures or even new stars can be revisited in time to come.

This isn't even an 'out there' license too for InArt given their relative members age. I'm sure A Chinese Odyssey influences them a lot along during their growing up years along with films starring Donnie Yen, Jackie Chan, Sammo Hung, Yuen Biao and Bruce Lee. I for one would love to have another attempt for a Game of Death Bruce Lee and maybe an official Sammo Hung. Jackie Chan can suck a bag of dicks though.

Oh yeah, I’m aware of Stephen Chows personal life influencing his movies. It’s why they feel so intimate, special. They just hit different.

I remember EB’s “A Chinese Ghost story” Leslie Cheung. At the time it was a great sculpt, and in retrospect, I regret not getting it because my stupid younger self was conditioned to ONLY viewing ‘THE AMERICAN SUPERHERO’ as 1/6 scale figure worthy. Now that I’m older and wiser (or I’d like to think so😅), I’ve realized the error of my ways and have broken free of the bubble.

And not to turn this into a heavy conversation...but for other collectors, I’d like to think it’s not so much racism as it is also being conditioned into thinking the western Hollywood action star are the only worthy ones for 1/6 action figures. Can’t blame them, it’s all we saw and collected for YEARS. And I’m sure most collectors weren’t exposed to international cinema so they wouldn’t be familiar with something like “God of Gamblers”, “a better tomorrow”, or “once upon a time in China”. Hell I’m sure there are dozens that would kill for figures from Bollywood! If InArt teases something from that, would I be depressed? NO. I’d be happy AF for those that have longed for 1/6 Bollywood heroes!

Although I would like to help educate those that have their own wishlist to...I don’t know, not be greedy or...”entitled”.

If anyone’s played Smash Bros ultimate...good lord whenever a new character was announced, you have people losing their **** because it wasn’t a character THEY wanted and insulted those that were happy for X or Y to be included.

It’s like...yo, chill out. YOU may not like X...but many DO. Be happy for them.

But nah, they wanna continue nerd raging at it.

As for Jackie Chan...that’s why I said Prime Jackie Chan...before all the BS.

I hate what he’s become...but his contribution to cinema is undeniable.

Smooth criminal version would be perfect for them. Magnetic lean pose with jukebox. I'm hopeful 😬

This is a grail item for me.

But ONLY if they get the likeness right. Accurate 1987 era MJ, not some cheap impersonator in a well done/sculpted costume. So far the offerings are pretty crap (including the awful Pure Arts statue). Blitzway are also doing an MJ (or at least teased it).

What did he become? Don't follow him much

Well...

In a nutshell, he’s become a mouthpiece for the CCP and repeatedly thrown the people of Hong Kong, and even his own family, under the bus to praise and appease them. It’s disappointing.

There ya go.

It’s heartbreaking. That’s why I’m gonna pass on the official Jackie Chan 1/6 figure that was recently announced. It represents current day Jackie that I’m not the biggest fan of.
