Question about Predators roll in the movie lineup

Hey all,

If this has been discussed I apologize, but I didn't find anything specific to this. Does Predators effectively erase Predator 2 or is it an in between movie and P2 is still part of the universe? I know when they attempt "relaunches" they sometimes act as though sequels didn't take place.

It doesn't replace p2. Its its own movie in the Predator universe. I don't remember if they mentioned a year during the movie but I would assume it takes place after P2 in the timeline.

With more advanced human weapons, I have the feeling that it takes place after the second, yet PS does not reference P2, only P1. I never saw anything in PS that would erase P2, it just takes nothing from P2 except maybe some predator technology(netting, pred vision options). My guess is that Harrigan didn't report his experience like Dutch did, or it was not taken seriously enough to be brought to military attention.

The weird thing is, something changed in between the time of the movie being made/hyped up and when it was released regarding that. Because I remember RR saying Predators was supposed to be a direct sequel to the original Predator (disregarding Predator 2 and the AVP films). And then later that was changed and now it's officially a sequel to Predator and Predator 2.

Robby just wanted people on his side. All he wanted to do was make a good Predator flick. He knows many fans HATE Predator 2, and the AvP's, so he wanted to do his best to make sure none of those would be refrenced.

I think what shocked him was, he was wrong about P2. Lots of fans really like that movie. Me as well. So that would be my guess why they changed it.

Predators is meant to be modern day... look at the weaponry they are using, and the gear. It's all modern day. The AA12 shotgun that Royce uses was put into production in 2005, and the digital scope and sniper rifle model that Isabelle uses is also modern age.

They also reference 1987 in the movie (Predator) with a hint of talking about the past, so I'd definitely say it's modern day. Never even questioned that myself, it's pretty apparent.
