I was wondering if anyone here has returned a factory defective product to Sideshow that they did not purchase directly from Sideshow but rather an eBay auction or another source?

I just got into the Premium Format line after seeing them in person at Toy Fair. Because this piece has been completely "pre-sold out" for over a year, I had to go to eBay to get my Vader.

Anyway, today I received the piece, the box was factory sealed, but there is a flaw on the helmet (a dent and a paint sag) that is CLEARLY a factory error. I love the piece, and love the series, but I REALLY want to get this nasty little flaw corrected.

I hear great nothing but great things about Sideshow customer service, so I'm REALLY hoping for the best on this one.

Unfortunately if you didn't buy it direct they insist you work through your seller to get a defective item replaced. Hopefully you bought it from a dealer on ebay rather than an individual, that will make the process simpler.

But definitely contact the seller, it's their responsibility to make sure the product isn't defective.

thats kind of a pain in the butt, and seems like a cop out. SS should understand the nature of the secondary market which is basically what drives their sales. Why cant they take care of the little guy?

Alot can happen from the time a "perfect" product leaves the seller's hands and onto a FedEx truck...

I just contacted them about my Obi, but I've fortunately had no problems with eBay or any other dealer products. They have a couple of links for if you got it from a dealer or off eBay. Just log into your account and there will be a link for returns.

It's no cop out. "Alot can happen from the time a "perfect" product leaves the seller's hands and onto a FedEx truck.." Which is precisely why they will only deal directly with a purchaser, whether it be the buyer or a distributor or a retail outlet.

Any transaction is between you and the seller, not with someone who sold it to a guy, who sold it to a guy, who sold it to you. That is why you will find so many people on this board who will only buy direct from Sideshow, or a super retailer, like the ones that frequent this board. Then the little man will be taken care of. The dealers here know what condition they send you items and if one gets damaged, will have it returned inspected and have it replaced by Sideshow and sent back to you. It is up to you to have responsibilty for your actions. Not for Sideshow to forever take responsibilty for their product. With ebay it's buyer beware. That is a given.

Get in touch with the seller. If it has been less than 30 days since he received the item, he should be able to contact SS and get a return authorization. Let the seller work it out with SS, then give you the action plan.

Thats true, you have good points. I guess im just used to MR's type of CS. Im still a SSC newb

MR is the only company I have dealt with that handles the damages for the dealer. Sideshow is normally very good about replacing something if its an odvious factory error the person you bought it from if they are a dealer shouldn't give you any troubles exchanging it.

hope you are able to get a replacement. next time you could consider requesting for the seller to open up and check before postage.

i know some sellers sell items mint and unopened. but i always make it a point to open and check myself first before selling. this way i will not experience this trouble with the buyer if he got it with flaws.

yeah; that's probably because they are modifying the product and re-selling as one upgraded version. Such as they retrieve the limited from you , modify it and sell as elite :monkey5

You make no sense.

C'mon people. There's no need to be rude. The man is saying that MR will take faulty merchandice, fix it, then modify and upgrade it to a higher echelon of collectible that costs more, then sell it and reap the rewards. It's the same thing I do....

Not everyone here is a master of the English language. Furthermore, several of us here who do speak English well would do better to keep their mouths shut.

I wasnt referring to his english grammar, i was referring to his statement on MR taking defective LEs then magically turning them into Elite Editions. That is retarded and makes no sense. I guess when the MR Lightsaber fairy waves her magic wand over a lightsaber made of aluminum, it magically turns into stainless steel.

:lol

Nash, that's funny. But I was more referring to CF's post, which was neither helpful nor inciteful. Only insulting.

I had a faulty FX saber and MR was very speedy in replacing it, even before I sent back the faulty one. It did take them a couple of weeks to respond to my emails though.

Thanks guys.

The seller is getting in touch with Sideshow. Is there a person that we should ask for? From another topic, I hear a guy named "Jon" is really understanding and easy to deal with.

Again, thanks for all your help!

:)
