Question for those who have used HLJ

Forgive my ignorance but im pretty inexperienced with ordering import stuff and i've never used HLJ before though i've heard alot of great things about them, so im curious about some things with an order i've put in as im a little unsure about it.

Saturday i was browsing the net looking for figs that had been released in the last couple of years that i missed or couldnt get due to money constraints. I went to HLJ cause i know they occasionally get items back in stock. On a whim i searched for superman and checked their listing for Hot Toys Superman Returns knowing that they once got him back in stock. I've missed this figure so many times now its painful and to my great suprise when i checked the listing he was listed in stock. I looked real close and hard at it, calculated the cost and shipping, saw the big "Buy This" button and went ahead and clicked it, put in my info and went on my way.

I recieved an email stating that i'd get confirmation of the order on monday, assuming that they are just not in on weekends, so fine i waited. But to my suprise when i checked the superman listing again (and it is this way still) it was now tagged "Discontinued" again, with no option to buy it anymore obviously. My worry sprang up a bit, obviously i either managed to snag the last one they had, or maybe just made the system realize it didnt have any i dont know which. I'd hoped monday i'd find out.

Well i've gotten another email, this time just saying hte order is now been taken and is being processed. And i'll recieve another when its done. Now i got this email 16 hours ago (assuming monday morning in japan) and nothing since. And it states that once they have the stock in they'll get it ready to ship and then charge me and ship it. I've not been charged yet so right now its just a waiting game.

What im curious about is this the way most orders go, email of order processing, then later a confirmation email, and in general any idea how long between these? And any idea if i actually have a chance at getting this figure or not... just the fact that he went discontinued again after i put in my order worries me a bit so im curious.

Any thoughts or info would be appreciated.

They do take a bit to process your order and then to ship it. When I ordered a medicom stormtrooper last month it took about a little over a week from when I placed my order to when I got the email that it had finally shipped. The only reason I can think of for the delay would be that they try to collect as many stateside orders as they can before they ship them all out. Good luck with your order though. HLJ is a great company and I've used them about 8 times total in the past 8 years or so.

Don't worry Magnuz that's how HLJ works. To me, it's the best asian shop, period. I buy saint seiya figures from them every month and never had a single issue.

I've only ordered Gundams from them, but usually it takes about 5 days for them to process, charge and ship...for me anyway.

toys2 keeps raising their prices everytime they get one in... It was at $145 before this one.

Considering the fact that it is sold out everywhere, the $25 increase is pretty nominal compared to ebay prices.

Well HLJ has charged me so i assume that means i got him which has me excited, like rory i've been trying all over to get one, most times he was readily available i had no money and times i did he was no where to be found.

HLJ had him for 152 compared to the usual 200 he is on ebay thats damn fine.

I am really glad that I was able to pull the trigger on this one finally. I don't get too many 1/6 figures now-a-days but this one is a must have for me. It still cost me way more than I lwould have liked but it was better now than later. Please post some pics when you get yours.

Yeah i can't wait to get him. He's really been the holy grail of 1/6 for me and i've only recently started collecting the scale so im barely into the stuff, but he was just too cool. 200 is alot for one figure but sometimes you can go a little nuts for stuff.

Checking my online banking and the money i was charged for supes is now back in my account and theres not even a record of it being charged anymore, much less credited back its as if it just never happened. Technically it had been a pending transaction but thats what all are after they happen and before they get bumped to normal ones.

Im not sure wether it was a charge checking if i had the funds, or more likely the charged processing the order and now they've found they dont have him as i worried, and have refunded.. but i've gotten no email so im not sure...

So i dunno if they are going to come back and charge me again when they really ship him. The order status on their sites says they are processing hte order, finding the item calculating shipping and preparing to charge me.

Don't worry... this happens to me all the time, even with Sideshow. The initial charge is just a pre-auth to hold funds (usually only three days), and then the real, "final" charge will come through. If the real charge isn't put through in three days, the hold of funds is released and returned to your account. The actually charge is coming, so leave the funds in there and you will be alright.

Well i hope thats the case cause i'd hate to miss this fig for the umpteenth time. I figured i'd just go on about my business and not spend the money anyway just in case they came back and charged.

Well i continued to be confused by this deal heh...


As i've said in previous posts, so far i put in my order, the superman is now out of stock and now not even listed on the site last i checked. THe order got processed, i got charged, then bout the end of the week the charge was gone. I've now recieved a shipping notice, with tracking, i've checked and he's left Tokyo International, and i've checked my banking and i have not been charged again to make up for the charge that was removed. Assuming the previous charge to be a hold charge that eventually went away im waiting for the real one. But it seems odd they'd ship without charging me....

Not all together sure what to think now heh... But if i get him i'll be pleased... just wonder when they'll get around to charging me if they actually will....
