Hi. So I just discovered the Hobbit Hole series. Yes I know I must of been living under a rock. I have a couple questions from people that collect these.
1. Are there 21 total pieces?
2. What'ss the difference between Bag End Hobbit Hole, Bag End Collectible Environment? Are they both scaled the same, just one is a official Bag End series, and the other isnt?
3. The new expensive one that just dropped I know it says its sized for Hobbit Hole series, but it isn't really part of the series?
4. Anyone have a pic of their collection/display?
5. Anyone make miniature hobbits that are in scale with the series?
Thanks for any of the information. Looking forward to ordering a couple soon.
I can answer some, tho I am not a dedicated WETA collector re the prices (lately) and mostly a Hobbit collector.
You might want to lurk at:

tho to see some pictures from really dedicated collectors, you might want to join. They are nice folks who can really answer all of your questions, and it is a very polite forum. Also try YT.
You could try Google - I've never seen anyone make tiny hobbits, tho probably someone has.
So the original Bag End - the open edition - and a limited edition collector version that has peeks into the rooms (only available 3rd party now)
are a smaller scale than the Hobbit Holes. I don't know the scale.
The latest pricey Bag End on the Hill, is the same scale as the Hobbit Holes. I don't know how many there are total. As for the few I own - they are very nice little things; usually the paint is very good. But - not long ago they were half the price they sell for now. A few years ago WETA raised the prices of Hobbit Holes. They are charming, true, but I don't think worth 50$ for the smaller ones and 99$ for the larger ones is a fair price. I only pick up on sale, like via BBTS, or sometimes WETA workshop has a sale - you might want to join WETA Workshop as they send e-mails for sales, which can be pretty good.
As for the newest Bag End on the Hill - which is larger than the original, includes the back door, has a light-up - well, it's pricey. You might want to try one Hobbit Hole from e-bay or BBTS before jumping in with both feet $$$$$ (if you are in the U.S.) The newest Bag End is sort of designed to be a centerpiece to all the Hobbit Holes, being the same scale.
As for jumping in on the latest Bag End (they are also selling just the Bag End door in the same scale for 99$) - IMO while pricey - hard to know what to tell a new collector. WETA is not always as careful of its paint jobs as they should be. But the Hobbit Holes have had pretty good paint. You could probably re-sell the newest Bag End $$$$ if you needed to, as it has a limited order window.
For sure I'd pick up a Hobbit Hole off e-bay or someplace, before going all in $$$$$. And think about how you would plan to display; the best collections of the Hobbit Holes use risers so you can see them all. IMO there's nothing wrong with the "original" Bag End - the newest one tho does match the scale of the HHs and is like, super deluxe with a price to match.
I think I'll get one of the bigger Bag end. Just gotta decide if I want to spring for the new expensive one. I do really like the light up feature. That price though...yikes.
Indeed. If you try one Hobbit Hole only, suggest 2A Hill Lane, just because you get a little ale barrel to go with, and lots of nice details. Tho u get one, and then u want another lol.
