Funny, I just watched Bird Box last night. I'd give it a similar rating but absolutely LOVED

that we seemingly got a mainstream horror film that was 100% Lovecraftian, complete with implied giant and tentacled creatures (if Gary's illustrations were to be believed) that instantly make you insane just by looking at them, unless you're already insane of course.

Pretty freaking awesome that they went that route IMO. *So* much better than the ridiculous "Happening" by M. Night Shyamalan.

Bird Box 8/10
Terrified 9/10
Bumblebee 8/10
Aquaman 9/10
First Reformed 10/10
Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse 9/10

You and I totally agree sir. Bird Box may not be for everyone and it is far from perfect but it is absolutely a gem of of that author's horror and for that alone it deserves to be admired. Hell, it maybe the only 100% Hollywood film in recent memory to ever to stand as a love letter to the author himself. This and the first season of True Detective are like monuments to this man's twisted imagination and genius.

Personally wasn't too crazy about bird box, I wish they had gone a bit more lovecraftian. I guess because it was Lovecraftesque, made me want to see the creatures even more.

Also, I felt like too much time focused on the time in the house, whereas I was much more interested in the journey, which was too short, given how difficult it should have been due to the inability to use their sight.

I felt like this movie wouldn't have been made if not for the success of A Quiet Place.

Excalibur- 8.5 - 9/10

Watched it again after many years, and while it's not perfect, it's really, really great.

Some parts feel dated and cheap, while others are just timeless and epic. The scene where Arthur is knighted in the water by the battlements is incredibly powerful, and there's part of me that wonders if the Arthurian Legend could be handled so well by a modern filmmaker.

I'd love to see a proper 4K disc of this.

I enjoyed Bird Box. That's all I have to say about that.
I didn't know I was in the presence of a legend.

Bird Box

“The Happening” done right I suppose. It was good, but it’s one of those movies that you will never watch more than once.
