As a huge Redskins fan I have been following this very closely since yesterday when it broke that he had been shot when someone broke into his home. I am pretty sad about this. 24 years old and had a baby girl.

Yes, he had had some troubles with the law in his past, but had moved from his old neighboor hood and had worked hard to straighten out his off the field problems and had no troubles as of late.

He was a beast on the field.

Sad Day indeed...watched as he intercepted a couple Favre passes earlier this year...man, he was a monster on the field...fast and unstoppable.

Too bad...he had great potential!

This sucks. I'm neither a Miami Hurricanes fan or a Redskins fan at all, but Taylor was an amazing football player whose skills I admired. He was one of the new crop of talented young Safeties who are redefining the position in the NFL. And despite his past troubles he did seem like someone who was genuinely maturing and a good person. This is tragic and my heart goes out to his family and teammates.

It also sucks that he was shot in the leg, but died due to blood loss as the bullet hit the femoral artery. :(

I am a huge Canes fan and follow almost every Cane in the NFL. This is a terrible tragedy that hopefully will be learned from. Apparently there had been an ongoing fued between Sean and the guys that shot him (but no one in the Skins organization did anything for extra protection when he wanted to go to his home after the Bucs game).

Sad, sad day for the NFL

I head this morning that Gibbs didn't even know Taylor had gone to his Fla home. I am not sure who, if anyone in the Skins org knew he was there.

a couple of things to note. someone had broken into the same house 8 days earlier and left a kitchen knife on sean's bed. could this attack have been a follow up for some other incident?

also, it's pretty messed up that even though he had lost alot of blood, he had made it to the hospital and lived another 24 hours. sounds like an incompetent doctor or medical staff to me. i have heard many horror stories about florida hospitals. maybe this is another. god bless sean and his family.

Actually, it's more likely that his impeccable physical conditioning is the reason why he lived as long as he did after losing that much blood. It's damn near impossible to survive a severed femoral artery.

Sad news indeed. :monkey2 It will be interesting to see where this goes from here since I'm sceptical that it was a random incident or a fluke. It's a shame really, he was a very talented player.

he made it to the hospital and was alive post 7-hour surgery. if blood loss is the main reason you die from a severed femoral artery, then how could he have died? they must have stopped the bleeding by then. there are people that are kept alive for many years by machines only. i'd put my money on hospital staff incompetence.

Sad news indeed.

It's not random though as Taylor has been in trouble, most recently when something was robbed from him, he went and robbed it right back. This is probably the tail end of that.

Sad part is that since then and since his daughter was born he really cleaned up his act and had no more trouble at all. He had even moved away from where he was living.

I am sure it;s tired to the break in 8 days ago when they left a knife on his bed. I would not be surprised if it's alos tied to the other event as well.

I'll be 31 at the end of december and I can proudly say I've been a skins fan my entire life. I too have been glued to the computer and tv following everything and I must say im beside myself. Sean was by far and away my favorite skins player. This season he was definitely blossoming into if not the, one of the best safeties in the game. Football aside, my prayers go to his family and all hurt by this. Life is bigger than any game or hobby and that is what was lost. Yes, its well documented he had a troubled past and maybe that caught up to him and maybe it didnt. The end result is unfortunately the same and I hope they catch the person(s) responsible. He was too young :monkey2

I wonder if it's the hospital my ex girlfriend works at :monkey1

I don't think this was anything the doctors did. It's said that you can bleed to death in 2 min from this injury. I think many were shocked he didn't die at the scene. They also said he lost so much blood they were worried that if he made it through that he may have some brain damage. We will never know, but the whole thing just sucks.

It's all our sports talk radio station is talking about today. Many fans are upset. Washington is a football ( Redskins ) first town when it comes to sports.

I live in the area as well "Ft Washington" and a huge Skins fan. Gibbs and Greg Williams are taking this very hard. Considering Taylor's father is the chief of police in Dade county I would suspect that this will get extra attention to find who did this.

Rest in Peace Sean!

This is horrible. I'm a Redskins fan, and Taylor was my favorite player on defense. He was a bigtime hitter.

My heart breaks for his little girl.

Very sad day...
