Btw which body is that? I know some of you have it. Is he tall? MT figures are usually shorter than they should be.

So disappointing honestly, looks nothing like him at all. I want a RE4 Remake Leon more than anything but can’t justify getting this poor attempt to fill that void. If Damtoys don’t do it I pray someone else will give it a go
I actually think the likeness is pretty good in this comparison. I just kinda hate the hairsculpt. It looks awkward on his head and too long/full.

Leons haircolor in the RE4 remake is really weird. It can look wildly different depending on the lighting conditions but to me it clearly looks bleached. All official merch seem to be basing his haircolor on the RE2 remake, which is a dark blonde. So not surprised that’s what MT went with.

I don’t think the white blonde color would translate well to 1/6. Remember that custom sculpt I had made? Atleast it was easy enough for me to repaint it.

..And as far as the body goes. That jiaou body sucks. Cheap with weird proportions just like how I predicted.

I think the neck on that body in particular is really messing with how the sculpt looks. It’s a very thin unnatural neck. First thing I’ll do is bodyswap. It’s 100% necessary with this figure. I got a JXToys body which seems to be identical to damtoys proportion wise. And the elbows are single jointed (like Dams Clairw body) so it won’t look so bad with the jacket off.

I’ve been using less and less phicen/ seamless bodies as of late. They all have their issues. Weird proportions, small necks etc. Can’t go wrong with a nice and sturdy plastic body.

I think they used the collector statue as their base and it’s a dark grey there.. which is stupid because they got it right the first time.
That might be the case but if so why are the leg pouches green and the SG pistol… black.

So little of the choices surrounding this figure makes any sense.

I honestly don't get why they make decisions like these.
The games literally have 3D character and item viewers that one can look at in 4k resolution.
Maybe Dam will get it right if they'll actually make more RE figures.

It's not bleached, it's just dirty blonde. I have the same hair color, and it's just how it works. Strong subsurface scattering significantly lightens it, so when you're outdoors under direct sunlight it looks as blonde as the next blonde person, but indoors or under an overcast sky it will look darker and almost brown.

In-game, Leon's hair behaves quite differently from Ashley's. Under different lighting conditions his hair will either be practically the same colors as hers or significantly darker, because Ashley's hair is actually blonde. But Leon's hair is dark blonde in its natural state and will only appears as bleached as Ashley's under specific lighting conditions.

Nowhere is this more apparent than on the official renders placed right next to each other in the game itself. One has very flat lighting and his hair is very brown, and the other has a dramatic backlight that clearly lightens it. It's an impossible effect to reproduce in paint on a solid chunk of plastic and it looks like their best idea was to paint his hair fairly dark but with a speckled metallic paint that catches the light. It might not be the best choice but I definitely prefer it over painting his hair in a permanent light blonde.

I will say as a non Leon fan…. I never thought Leon was ever a true blonde. I have almost every Leon action figure from toy biz, palisades, mody to NECA and to ME Leon has always been a brunette. Maybe the current Leon has some dirty blonde look to his hair but I never thought Leon as true blonde or having high lights. I guess it depends on the game lighting. Even the CGI movies he never appears to be blonde maybe it the video games but he’s not a true blonde.

I dont necessarily disagree with you, but I think even in these pictures you’re showing he clearly has a silver shine and his hair looks lighter than in RE2. Not the brown as depicted by the collector statue and MT figure.

I’m also a dirty blonde and yes my hair can look different depending on the lighting. But in the game Leons hair is constantly shifting between dark, like shown in your pictures, to bright white looking. I could stand under the brightest studio light on earth and my hair would not look anywhere near like how white Leons hair looks half the time in the game. Leons hair looks a pretty natural color when he’s outside in the dark, but walk a bit too close to a candle and it shifts into a ****oblonde.

I 100% perceive his hair lighter than his RE2 look even if it is just due to the lighting engine in the game and not an official canon change to his character design. If that makes sense.

I think prototype had a nice medium, seems they toned it down or just used more rose gold metallic paint.
P.S. I also thought they altered eyes, but seems they didn't just eyeballs are different.

His hair's definitely lighter than in RE2 but this specific kind of hair is kind of Capcom flexing the RE engine. This sort of back scattering is not common in games and the engine has come a long way even since RE2. But it's still far from a perfect recreation of real light. That picture form inside the castle is probably the hair shader at its least effective, getting very blown out by the warm lighting in the scene. I'm sure they balanced the shader around the fact that for the majority of the game he'd be in darker lighting.

I can’t believe we’re discussing hair color. Lol 😂 😭
I see he has thinner hair in the remake version. And he looks slightly older too.
I think we should start discussing Leon's hair loss, and whether or not we think he's stopped using anti-aging products. 🧐

It depends on if you have the hair strands setting turned on or off.

Having it on makes a big difference with Leon’s hair appear several shades lighter for the entirety of the game.

Leon’s hair never gets close to being that light as shown in your images with it turned off.

Thats interesting. Ive gotten used to it after seeing it during the entirety of the game
