I'll be making my first return to SSC, i looked in the helpdesk but found it confusing...

I paid $249 for the piece

This was including shipping and reward points i used in the purchase.

I understand i will likely have to pay to ship the item back and so the amount of money i should get back would be $215

However i used $36 worth of points i earned, so will i get back $215 and no longer have the points or will i have this amount deducted from my refund, or since i wont get the points back will SSC refund me $178 and just remove the reward scheme from the orders i placed to earn that amount?????

It doesnt seem fare if i lose that $36 completley since i did earn those points through purchases

Yes. Once rewards points are used, they are gone, no matter what. You can't even use them and cancel before it ships without losing them.

Normally yes you loose points...but I guess it really depends on why are you returning it...Was it Damaged and you just do not want it because you are afraid next one will be the same (Thanos Situation), or was it an item you just did not like...If its the 1st reason you might be able to call them and explain and they might do a one time exception (had it done for me a while back)...if it's the latter then you are out of luck altogether.

Do not expect them to refund your reward points. This is addressed in the Rewards FAQ:

Q: I received a refund for an item I purchased with Sideshow Rewards. When will the Rewards be replaced back into my account?

A: They will not. Once you use your rewards they are depleted from your account.

you failed on multiple points, man.

1)you didn't read the FAQ on reward points or the warning their site gives when you place the order

2)you used reward points on an order you weren't sure you would keep

3)you shouldn't use RW points to partially pay for an item as you don't earn points on the purchase. (A $250 item would have earned you $15 in points, so you used $36 but lost $15 so you only got $21 net benefit.)
