...just got their butts handed to them by the talking chihuahua movie.

Body of Lies opened in the number three spot in its first weekend, behind Beverly Hills Chihuahua and Quarantine.

The way the world is right now, I don't blame people for wanting a little mindless escapism. Let 'em enjoy their talking dog movie.

the movie idea was good and exciting but it was not that clear and very messy. the story was interesting but the story telling was a bit too unclear. it was a bit messed up and was not really that great
the acting, directing and cinematography was good.

Surely your not lumping "Babe" 1&2 in this group are you?
(...and Ill call you surely anytime I want:joy)

No, never seen "Babe" 1 or 2, but hear it was well liked by those it was aimed to. I was generally taking about the type of movies that Hollywood puts out frequently with no scripts, predictable plots, mindless lame jokes or gags, and atrocious CGI. (and no I'm not taking about the Prequels, or KOTCS :p)

Beverly Hills Chihuahua looks stupid, keeps the animals as the primary players, pushes the human characters into supporting players and cheap gags.....therefore anyone could have predicted a ton of business for it this weekend. Kids love anything talking animal and the Disney powerhouse of promotion definitely had this one pushed hard. The only thing that might have made this even more powerful is if it were animated. BOL had no interest at all for me from the second it was previewed. I'm actually surprised that Nick & Norah's Infinite Playlist isn't doing better considering the fanbase of Michael Cera and the fact overall it was a decent film with a killer soundtrack. It was aimed right at the MTV generation who seemed to just scoff it away.

Body of Lies isn't that strong a film. It's not as convoluted as it could be, but I can see where people might be put off with having to "work" to get a film. But the characters aren't that interesting and Leo's character is especially weak. Also the relationship between Crowe's character and Leo's is central to the story, but isn't fleshed out so much.

And Ferris is pushed around and manipulated so much, you may feel sorry for him, but you can't admire him. This is what makes it a weak film, IMO

Are you talking about Beverly Hills Chihuahua?

:D

I think so-so reviews have hurt Body of Lies. Now talking dogs... That's another story!

Fireproof should be #1
Great clean movie that should be seen by every married couple.

Well......:lol.......I loved Beverly Hills Chihuahua. I go to the movies to be entertained for a couple of hours. If I saw serious stuff all the time I'd need anti-depressants. Sometimes you just need mindless fun.

BOL just looked boring from the commercials and like about 10 other flicks made in the last couple of years.
