He quit acting in early 2000s but I always remember his movies (it’s hard not to). Unforgiven, French Connection, The Firm, Enemy of the State, etc. RIP

The man was 95. He had one hell of a run. I never get upset when people die in their 90s.

But his wife was 63. And the dog, too.

This is the most WTF celebrity death. Something happened. How awful.

They probably said screw it we’re done lets just go out with the carbon monoxide.

That or it was a murder suicide started by the dog.

I'm thinking Hackman died naturally and his wife thought she'd go with him too, but didn't want the dog to starve either. The fact the dog was involved as well makes this more ****** up than usual.

If I was 95 waking up each morning to the endless division in the world, I'd happily take the carbon monoxide. His best years were well behind him anyway: physically, mentality, emotionally.

The current idiotic straight humanity is in would be so foreign to him, he probably felt like he was on an alien planet.

Maybe his wife had had enough to, and they didn't want to leave the dog behind? Who knows?

my movie memories of him outside of Superman was royal tenembaums and the birdcage and also heart breakers, I liked those movies. but they were more like comedies,
I never saw his more serious movies,
