As much as a lot of us (myself included) talk about Hackman’s Luthor varying too much from the comic book incarnations, it was still a terrific performance. His Lex was so charming, he made you like Luthor in spite of him being a scumbag.

I'm thinking Hackman died naturally and his wife thought she'd go with him too, but didn't want the dog to starve either. The fact the dog was involved as well makes this more ****** up than usual.

If I was 95 waking up each morning to the endless division in the world, I'd happily take the carbon monoxide. His best years were well behind him anyway: physically, mentality, emotionally.

The current idiotic straight humanity is in would be so foreign to him, he probably felt like he was on an alien planet.

Maybe his wife had had enough to, and they didn't want to leave the dog behind? Who knows?
