Looks like recasters have taken there toll again.

New e-mail from Ada:

No new free, uncommissioned celebrity heads will be sculpted from Sept on due to many people copying my heads and selling them by themselves which seriously affects my business. I know many of you buy from them instead of me, and I feel totally disrespected and upset. From now on, if any of you want a celebrity head from me, you will need to commission me to sculpt it for you instead

Can Ebay not be contacted to ban the sale of these recasts? Hell, they ban sales that infringe on the big boys if they see fit.

I know sculptors who have tried, through ebay, to stop diver4 and his kind from selling recast. Since most celebrity heads are "unlicensed" they wont do anything about it. As long as collectors keep buying recast, they will continue to be available.

She does indeed. I tried getting her to replace my Sawyer and Milla sculpts after I convinced her that the sizing was off. When she told me that she'd only replace them if I bought more from her, she started accusing me of disrespecting her and then said her clients on the forums had told her that I was happy if she didn't get sales. I have 27 of her heads!! How does that make sense. She also told me she does the sculpting just for fun, she's not in it for the money and its not a business for her. Yet in the last email she sent out to others (she removed me from her mailing list due to what others said about me) she says this:

She accuses me of disrespecting her and being "a bad person" but here she is caught in an outright lie!!
Ada, if you are reading this or your "clients" are feeding you info, ask for the links, read for yourself that nothing that is not true has been written and do the right thing by sending the corrected heads to those that ordred them.
There are still many that would order more from you if you could just improve your communication and customer service.
While it is unfortunate that these recasters are doing this you can still save customers and business by keeping in communication rather than cutting folks that have been buying from you from your lists.

Ok, I see... the question had appeared to be cleared up so The Mike said to "lock it up" and it was. I don't think it needed to be, so this thread should be no problem as long as tempers don't flair up.

It was locked because it was basically just a misunderstanding. She's still taking commissions and selling head sculpts. That said, I don't understand the desire to lock or delete threads so quickly.

Recasters ruin all the fun - Very understandable why sculptors get reluctant to release something directly from their studio instead of a toy company.

I still am happy Wofford and JMLsuperman shared their commissions, but would have understood if they had not done it.

I see why it would be locked though. The original post was alerting that she'd no longer be taking orders, then it was proven that it was a misunderstanding....there wasn't much conversation going on at that point...

Recasting happens. Lots of people here recast and sell stuff so be careful before throwing rocks. Never know who you'll hit. I can sympathize. I've recasted in the past but never sold anything I did. I made a Patient Zero recast but would never sell one(so don't pm and ask). Just doesn't seem right. That said, the person selling original headsculpts better charge enough to get their money quickly because if it's good, it will be recasted by someone.
