Mine is coming from AlterEgo too.

I'm glad it's not just me that's struggling with these backpack straps. They are a pain in the butt.

I'm thinking of making this my first Sideshow SW figure. I've been collecting the Medicom ones, and I really like them (Just Fett, Vader and a Stormtrooper so far). I can however, see that the overall look of the Sideshow Sandie has improvements over Medicom's (especially the accessories and helmet), but one thing still bugs me.

In all of the pictures I see of the Sideshow Stormtroopers, they always look like they are standing really awkwardly, whereas the Medicom seems to fall into really natural poses without you having to really try.

I guess what I'm asking is this:

- Can the Sideshow Sand/Stormtroopers achieve really natural poses, like the Medicom ones?

- If not, how can I mod them to do so?

In short, how can I get a Sideshow Sandie that poses like a Medicom!?

You need to get a new body for the SS stormie if you want him without the stand. Or at least to tighten some of the screws...

the straps on the back pack are a bit of a pain but if you can get them adjusted to where you want them, tie the excess below the buckle with a piece of black thread or use a small piece of black tape. that way they wont slip.

Still waiting for mine to arrive.

But on my white sandie, I use blutac to adhere the backpack to the trooper. Then with the backpack stuck to the back, you can take your time with the straps. I just tuck the excess to the back.

My Sideshow one doesn't seem to pose awkwardly, that is being the Seargent one, my squad lead hasn't shown up in the great white north as of yet.

couple shots after converting body to a slim truetype & a few little touch ups to the helmet.

Perhaps "awkward" was the wrong word. I just mean that in the pictures I've seen they all just seem to be standing dead straight, looking a bit uncomfortable, or at least standing less naturally than I'd like.

I mean this:

The Sideshow one seems to hang there more like a shop dummy, whereas the Medicom looks like he's putting weight down through his legs and is standing naturally.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to diss the Sideshow one, I think it looks great and am seriously considering getting it. Plus it's obvious that it's more true to the film than Medicom's. I just wonder if it can be made to "hang" more naturally.

Is it that it needs the stand because of the backpack? Let's see your poses people!

It's not the orange Pauldron, but this is the most natural pose I can get for now with the standard body, while I like this figure & have the orange pauldron on order the helmet is no improvement on the Medi, looks great form some angles and awkward from others.

I'll possibly try a new pose when the new one arrives

OKAY! ALRIGHT! So, I took some "stiff" pictures of the Sandtrooper! He's just standing in attention there! REALLY! He's SUPPOSED to look stiff! :monkey4

That's no reason to disregard the figure altogether. It really does pose well, and holds the poses because of the nice tight joints. The backpack IS heavy so I do think the stand is necessary, although there's probably a way to make the cannon counterbalance the weight if you posed him the right way.

Here are a few more shots I quickly took this morning before work, that you SHAMED me to take! ;)

These were just quick ones that I didn't have much time to fuss with. If I have some time later on I'll see what else I can do. :D

Overall I'm very happy with the figure. This one is definitely tighter than my original Stormtrooper, who had slightly weak ankles.

Oops, I'm sorry. I really didn't want to give the impression that there was anything wrong with your photography. I'm sure you realise this from your winkey smiley, but I thought I'd better make that clear. In fact your photos really show the detail of the figure, and helped get me juiced up for maybe buying it. :)

You know, I think I should just buy it and find out for myself. It still looks cool, regardless of the pose - it was really just to see if it was something that could be "futzed with" out of the box, or whether I'd be better off buying a True Type or whatever, and making it more of a project.

Yeah, I know. No worries, bud. I just didn't think of the power and influence the photos would have over my fellow freaks! :wacky

Personally, I don't think there's a need to switch the bodies. If you have any of the other Stormtrooper or armor body releases from Sideshow, you can get an idea of the range of movements. The armor itself would be the biggest hinderance, but the body underneath would not make that any better. The only problem for me would be the tightness of the joints, which this one seems to be perfect.

Ah, this would be my first one see.

It's hardly a big financial risk though, I think I'll just bite the bullet. I can always sell it on if I don't like it.

Ahhh, photos like these really make the wait unbearable:monkey2

Got mine today... awesome figure. Joints do seem tighter than the first Sandy, all around great figure.

:rock Awesome.... should be putting in an order for one next week.

I have officially decided to pass on the black version though... I already feel as if I'm forcing myself to be as excited as I should for this one.... and the lure of Blade or Wolverine as an alternative is also quite alluring.
