The pic I posted you can see the front of the seat at leias crouch and see luke is perched right on the back of it

Ref pics I have show the seat on the SSC bike about the same length as the full size bike but two hard-body 1/6 figures may not be able to sit like two soft-body real humans. Like the 1/6 Taun - riders sit higher due to the nature of scale.

Haven't seen your pics are you comparing with the scout prop or model or the luke leia prop or model, never checked my self if they differ or are all the same, the length of the seat at least on the hasbro bike seems to match the luke/leia bike

Damn! I really wanted this to be good, but the undersized bike may be a deal breaker for me *sigh*

NRD charged on my waitlist conversion, the first 1/6 NRD I've paid, guess I'm all in now. I don't have any 1/6 stuff right now but I'm thinking I'll dedicate one Pax shelf to 1/6 SW. :)

Bike looks a wee bit underscaled but that's one nice looking trooper. Just a pity the helmet is all one piece

Helmet isn't one piece Matrix - it's currently eight pieces - rear, top/post, inner housing, visor, faceplate, lens and two pieces to the mouth piece.

Also - careful judging the size of the bike off images from the show. I had it tilted slightly to show him banking so depending on the angle of the photo, it may appear shorter than it actually is. Ultimately its everyone subjective decision on whether its too long or too short depending if you are comparing to - the 1:1 or the miniature.

Hi Okko - from the end of the rear exhaust to the tip of the front of the steering vanes (smaller dagger shaped ones) its just about 520mm. Hope that isn't too small for you.

Where you guys are getting the idea the SSC bike is too small? A while back in this thread I showed a side by side between the full size and the SSC and it looks very close. Leia is not sitting on the seat when she and Luke are riding together.

I wonder if SSC's bike will have adjustable front fins like in the movie.

The main steering vanes have some slight articulation to them, the handlebar grip will articulate to roll forward just bit, rear exhaust flaps are hinged and the gimble on the bottom allows you to tilt the entire housing if you want him banking like how we had it at Celebration. There is a small flat head screw and nut too loosen /tighten this - just be very careful not too over tighten as it's ABS plastic - don't want to strip it.

Thx for posting that info :)

I think the bike and trooper looks great, and if its a bit underscaled I can live with that.

What i meant by 'one piece' is that the the faceplate can't be flipped up on the helmet which would have been nice:)

Full-sized prop replicas have been built at 11 feet long; those were based on a combination of reference materials of perhaps unknown provenance; i.e. books, screen captures, etc.

If 11 feet is accurate, 1/6 should be 558.8mm long; but as Matt mentioned it depends on the source material as even that used in filming wasn't consistent.

The Hasbro bike was reported to be 23.5 inches or 596.9mm.

Sideshow: 520mm

RPF 1:1 replica: 11 feet (558.8mm @1:6)

Hasbro: 596.9mm

Of what appears to be the actual prop in an exhibit, but not sure.

Another set of reference images here: ROTJ Speederbike reference needed

Note the filming puppet (if that's what that is) appears to be little more than an armature with a head and poncho.

Here's a schematic I found also courtesy of the RPF....not sure if/how closely the filming props followed this although the RPF guys say it was a blueprint for the full size model and the side view deviates from the filming model:

It depends on whether you're looking at the filming puppets/models, or 1:1 shots...the SSC doesn't look so far off in some shots. To be honest I don't know. Only an experienced futzer with both pieces in hand will be able to draw a firm conclusion for themselves.

The blueprints for the full size appear to show 3200mm (533mm in 1/6) and the "Behind the Magic" disc cites 3250mm (540mm at 1/6.) Yes, Hasbro is 590mm, and that bike is too big overall.

last time I looked at this, the SSC seat looked right but the area forward of the seat was a little too short. Bike also seems a bit too narrow, but not by much. Sideshow has a ton of ref on the bike - more than online - as seen in the making of PF statue.

Keep in mind also that Luke is a little smaller/shorter than a Scout and Leia a lot more so, so that might make the bike seem a bit smaller with the scout riding.

I have a bunch of comp pics next to the Sideshow, will dig them out.

Good point about the Scout being taller than Leia. This might not be as tiny as it appeared.

Thanks for the blueprint number, I couldn't make that out on my small screen.

Agreed on size of Luke & Leia of course, the scouts have more bulk.

So now we have:

Sideshow: 520mm

Full-Size Blueprints: 3200mm (533mm @1:6)

Behind The Magic: 3250mm (540mm @1:6)

RPF 1:1 replica: 11 feet (558.8mm @1:6)

Hasbro: 596.9mm

As we get closer to what is presumed to be production source material Sideshow's appears closer, if a touch short.
