just reviewed my credit card online account and noticed almost $2000 in online advertisement charges i didn't make. i have this card on file with sideshow and i use it specifically for my sideshow orders only. nothing else.

so the question is, was sideshow hacked from an outside source or did one of their employees have a field day with my credit line?

i urge all who have a cc on file with sideshow to check to see if there are any bogus charges on your account too. the company paid was an ad company in north carolina.

canceled card, changed card on file, waiting for cc company to open to dispute charges. :slap and the day begins! :monkey4

Why would anyone here know? Sounds like you need to call your card's customer service.

i'm giving people a heads up to see if they have bogus charges on their cards too being that my card is used for sideshow only. :slap

well it seems the two ad companies that were paid with my card thought the payer was fishy and through investigation, deemed he was a fraud. i have been credited with some of the charge amount already and the rest should follow by the end of the week. a customer service rep at one of the newspapers said she'd look up the ad and send me a copy via email. this dummy left a huge paper trail and i hope he gets busted!

o.o This is why ssc should allow you to make a account without a cc.

There is an option every time you order to remove the card on file after it's charged. Of course, that only really applies to in stock purchases because no one is going to let you pre-order without a card on file.

i called and they said they didn't have a problem. i did some investigation and found out that a staffing company in cherry hill, NJ had their website recently hacked. a fraudulent person or persons made a similar website and was taking personal information they believe to establish false identities. i have my resume posted on monster and career builder so i'm thinking it could have originated from there. what i don't understand is how they got my sideshow used credit card and why they used it to create bogus ads for this staffing company. the web address and phone number were already shut down but it looks like they were looking for more resumes. i expect an identity theft in my future.

Hey Darkmatter, Something similar almost happened to my wife. Its sites where you post your resume. Most of the time they will CALL you and phish information using the information you provided to get extra information out of you , such as SSN's parents maiden names etc. Sometimes they also send you a link to "resubmit" directly to their site. . . this site has malware and or will install a trojan horse virus. By away with job posting as since my wife took her job a year and a half ago we still get random calls saying I just received your resume just give me some extra info.

i'm thinking of deleting my account with monster and career builder. if they can't regulate and keep the information safe from thieves, i'm not going to give them the chance.
