...the SDCC reveals gave me a sense that HT was competing with SS in a way they haven't done before. I'm probably reading way too much into it but the Gonk droid reveals said to me - and to others at the time - 'don't buy any more SS figures, we're doing characters as minor as this so we'll get to everything eventually'.

That's exactly what I was thinking too - HT were definitely flexing their muscles in full view of the collecting world. It was a show of prowess. It's not a crime, but a little insensitive to some of the other 1:6 makers, sharing the SDCC floor.

Well, it's cool to see this sooner than later. Looks good in that review. Wish Sideshow had thrown in a snow wedge with the stand...even if it was a re - use from Han or Luke. I'll probably use the one from Hot Luke since he is displayed astride the tauntaun.

I appreciate SL's efforts getting us an early view of the production piece. Would suggest the next time he features a figure with so much white in the outfit and gear that he tries to use a darker backdrop. So much of what looked like some great details on the driver got washed out with that snowblinding white background. Still good to get a look at any rate.

I like the look and fit of the coveralls. ..might be some well - placed padding involved there. I'm expecting this to look as good as the TIE pilot...really like that figure.

Looking forward to more shots n' reviews as it gets closer....

Sean Long cuts quite a figure in that Superman outfit.

I wish the review wasn't so blown out with the lighting - it's hard to judge most of the time because it's so overexposed, making it hard to even really see the helmet and armor clearly. Nice to know the head can spin all the way around 360 deg though.:lol:slap EX rifle looks very cool. Love the different finishes on it and the swinging stock.

Seriously, one of the worst figure reviews I've ever seen.

Looks decent. the body is really too tall....

Yeah, this one seems to following the TIE pilot in being nearly 1/2" too tall.

As prices have gone up, many companies have started making their figures taller to give customers "more." True fact of the day.

Hope to pick this one up in the new year. Though maybe I should wait for Hot Toys. Then grab this one when people are trying to get rid of him.

I ordered this with a coupon back when they still did that. My ssc preorder list is down to this and rey/bb8. Hope it doesn't tower over the new snowies and commander. Wonder if they are waiting for Rogue One to put them up for sale? Probably at least a year away from getting them. And how about a veers?

I was really looking forward to seeing how grey the armor came out but due to the lighting issues in the video, it's pretty hard to tell.

Except for the red dots on the chest, it looks dead on.

Why (if you don't mind me asking) ?

Price mostly. But also the ridiculously tall body -- which means a replacement, which means the suit and gear will not fit as well... as well as more money.

I'm in no hurry to collect an Empire of background troopers. I can wait for HT to catch up with TIE pilot, AT-AT Driver, and others. I actually need another year to save up anyway. :lol

I'm also cutting back for space reasons. For example, I decided against the Bounty Hunters. Also, no Death Star Gunner for me... as much as I want it.

Death Star Trooper though has a special place in my memory so I might still grab him.

Like the Marmit driver, SSC underpainted the black mouth and also made the chin curve sculpt too narrow/pinched - maybe they partly used the Marmit as reference. I just rebooted my 1/6 Marmit, so maybe I'm more sensitive to these details.:lol

The eye lenses also look a bit like sunglasses. It's amazing how (as seen with the SSC Snowie) even the tiniest variation in the eye lenses from the screen helmet's seems to subtly throw the likeness off. Though this one is not as off as the Snowie lenses were.

Ironically enough, that was the same story as the costume test photos.
