Old news but I don't think it ever had its own thread.

I'll be missing the usual Sideshow pics from Rebelscum and SSG and all the rest but oh well. I don't believe Sideshow has ever used Toyfair for BIG announcements anyway. I am curious to see how SSC.com celebrates it on the website.

It's costly for SSC to attend Toy Fair and actually unnecessary for them since they can achieve the same thing by simply flying in the dozen or so of their buyers (and perhaps some websites) to visit them directly and focus on public announcements on their website. This will also solidify SDCC as their main event every year as an attendee. It also makes Toy Fair more of an event for SSC customers, since it will be "celebrated" on their site instead of the trade-only event.

True, but I will miss seeing the products up to that point, many sites snap pics of pieces whether they are allowed to or not and allow us to see progress and pieces that otherwise we may not get a glimpse of until they are solicited. They'll be missed but I have a feeling we'll get a slew of new product since they've already marked off their calendars with it.

Fine with me as this way they can concentrate on doing big things with the web site and getting ready for SDCC.

The website presence will still be huge and those of us outside the industry who aren't allowed to attend won't notice the difference. (Aside from the aforementioned in person shots that pop up.)

they are staying in their offices to make sure the 1/6 Vader preorder goes smoothly. :monkey3

... And most of those shots are utter crapiness, by the way.

It's worth pointing out that for every Dave Myatt from CTR/RS snapping pro pics there is some doofus with a camera phone. I can wait a few extra hours for proper pics on SideshowCollectibles.com, CTR, or elsewhere.

But don't worry, we'll still get the early "clandestine" pics of Sideshow stuff from events like SDCC.

Irish, you need to get slapped with the happy stick.

No, I just need to slap a young lady with my happy stick. :monkey1

:lol

It's all good, though. Just sharing my unfiltered, beer-filled opinion, which I'm proud to be able to achieve without any true anger, a proliferation of curse words, or personal attacks on others. (Not saying your post was a personal attack, just making the point... err, screw it... have a beer on me) :duff

Anyone think there will be new SW for TF? My personal opinion is: noper-oonie.

Since having the SW license there has yet to be a Toy Fair or SDCC go by without a major SW preview. So I think we're safe in saying "yes." Indy, maybe.

In 06 wasn't it ROTS Ben and the announcement of ROTS Vaderkin? Trying to really remember that one...

07 was Jabba wasn't it?

Jabba was announced at SDCC '06.

I don't believe Sideshow necessarily announced 1/6 SW figures at previous Toy Fairs, so much as displayed some that had just recently been previewed and put up for PPO. It seems clear that this year they'll likely combine the two events on their own site.
