Face looks great to me. Maybe not quite as good as their video but I think it's close enough for my taste.

I think my only real actual complaint is his rifle looks really cheap.

Otherwise I'm a pretty easily pleased collector, for better or worse. So I'm just hoping I get invoiced soon.

I'm betting a quality repaint would really help that sculpt shine. Man, I wish SS would do something about their production paint.

Knowing what a huge difference a quality paint job makes, it surprises me that Sideshow doesn’t take advantage of something so obvious. They would sell so many more figures and it would help to alleviate some of the disdain for their apparent lack of interest in providing the best possible figure.

Their paint has almost always been a letdown. Though they'd never admit it. Just like their rationale for "10% caricature". In this day and age, with all the talent and advancements in sculpting and figures, and you're releasing a premiere license using caricatures?

Yea, I agree. That caricature rationale rubbed me the wrong way. Felt more like a cop out to their sculpts not being spot on. When they said it, I was wondering "Did they mean 'character' instead?" b/c obviously you want to capture Clint Eastwood as the character he's portraying, but then you see the digital sculpt they're working on and they really do look a bit caricature-esque.

I like the Blondie PF b/c I'm a sucker for true mixed media statues. But the brow is so furrowed to exaggeration and then I'm reminded of that "10% caricature" comment

I kind of find it puzzling, even somewhat insulting. The mention of caricature on what are supposed to be high-end pieces (and prices that most definitely are high-end for mass-produced) is just kind of off-putting.

Perhaps I'm missing something, and there is some deal with Eastwood's estate or whomever brokered the deal, that they had to be stylized "10%".


Any who. At the very least, your comment inspired me to look up that Spirit of the West clip. Kind of funny.

Sideshow just doesn't have talent, plain and simple. Which is crazy when there are so many talented artists producing unlicensed stuff. Unless Sideshow is terrible to work for, snatch some of those guys up and work out a deal with Worldbox to use their sturdy bodies. They need to improve every aspect of their laughably overpriced figures.

$300 isn't always overpriced when the quality is there, but when people are talking about immediately getting a repaint or swapping sculpts and bodies, there's a problem that they refuse to change.

As a huge Eastwood fan, I am a sucker and will buy every new Eastwood figure IF it is better than my old figures. In this case, I think the SS DH unfortunately is a pass for me. I’m still on the fence with the Blondie figure. Did SS actually paint the neck peg a darker color to give the illusion of the beard?

Can someone who own the figure share more pics of the head and more full figure and head pose ?

It appears that Blondie has a sculpted neck peg, with beard texture, that they painted to blend into the headsculpt. I'm assuming that the neck peg is attached to the torso on a ball peg, you can turn the neck to avoid the odd issue they've created here.

It seems like an unnecessary step when they could've just sculpted the neck onto the head, but I'd imagine there's a valid reason why it was produced this way. Maybe they wanted to use this sculpted neck piece for future figures, and this was their solution.

The holster and rifle look like Hasbro 1990's Gi Joe stuff. Inexcusable on a high cost figure like this. Look at them!
I love Eastwood and do see myself getting a couple of these- only at a big discount. That may not happen but I can hope.

I forgot to mention the “Caricature” comment in my previous post. That really caught my attention as well. That is almost like admitting that they aren’t really trying to get the sculpt spot on. Who the hell wants somebody’s stylized vision of an iconic character!

I also agree that the holster and rifle are seriously lacking in quality and detail. The PF Blondie has some quality materials to it, so they are capable of doing this, they just choose not to.

Geese, this is unfortunate. Can the body be swapped out to a TT18 WITH Foot extenders?
or can anyone tell if the neck peg is only made for this SS body?

the head can be placed on any other neck from my experience with SS bodies and I have many. It’s the boots that will give you trouble if you want to use them as the SS ball joints at the ankles are much larger than the standard that most other companies use (see my post from a few pages back). So you’ll either need to blue tack them in, or glue in a standard sized socket into the boots to receive a more standard ankle ball joint.

If you don’t mind Frankensteining a body, you can remove the ankle sockets/receivers from the TTM18 and swap them for the ones that come attached to the SS figure. You’ll need pliers and some good super glue to secure them after the swap, but it can be done.
