AWESOMENESS!!! Looks like its really smeared with blood.

LITTLE CHAP! Sorry, I didn't bother taking high quality pics of this; just some quick shots before putting the display case cover back on.

A quick little between projects project. I had stripped the paint off of the little Konami Chestburster to find out that each segment was cast in a different color.

The first trick was to make both tail sections look like the same translucent color as the main body which was pretty right on for screen accuracy. With that accomplished, I added blood and silvered the teeth. The main body came out pretty well, but I wish I had done less is more on the tail, but it's still okay, especially since it's tucked back around the Big Chap's foot anyway. I almost wish I hadn't done the blood at all, but I wanted it to be more impactful the way people remember seeing it.

No, I don't want to do another Chestburster like this, so don't ask.:wink1:

I love that sort of sticky, criss-crossing pattern on the head. Just like the film. Must be tough to get it to look right without being too symmetrical. But it looks so real. I have that little figure so I know just how tiny it is in hand. I feel bad for your eyes.

Yes, that webbing effect comes from covering a slick surface with a viscous fluid. Not really possible to recreate naturally on such a small scale, so I had to paint it on little by little which took time.

My eyeballs feel bad for my eyes, too. I'm approaching 40 and wondering how much longer I can go like this, especially without needing glasses.

After reviewing and screen caping the birthing scene from Alien, I'm more happy with my bloodwork. I thought I over did it from the few shots I could find online, but it turns out I underdid it just slightly, so "less is more" achieved, I guess. Glad I did it afterall.

Up next 1/6 Nexus-7: Rachel. The sculpt is excellent. I hope I do this justice. Here's one of my references.

Stay tuned!

It seriously looks like you photoshopped a screen cap of the little ****er into your hand. Just mind-boggling.

I just saved every single one of those chestburster images! That paint effect makes it look as if small pockets of blood are caught in between the wrinkles of the skin!

That's the idea.:exactly: If I really want to do it right though, I should mix up some clear epoxy and pool it in the recessed areas.

Damn it. Thanks a lot Jean-Paul for causing me to think of that just now. It's all your fault. Now it's only good enough, and good enough... never is. :lol But that will have to wait for another day. I've got Rachel duty today.

Can't wait to see that Rachel! You knocked my Deckard head outta the park, can't wait to see what you do with this one!

Stel-lar work! The Chap looks fantastic, a museum piece you've got going on there. Looking forward to that Rachel next.

Nathan! I swear my iPad autocorrected lol. Don't I feel like a dolt.

Now he'll never take my commissions! :gah
