The universe actually is dependent on a balance of forces similarly to the Star Wars universe depending on a balance of the Dark and Light Sides of "The Force".

However...in our Universe...those forces are intellect and common sense.

And...in my own very humble opinion...it seems that we are moving through a time when intellect is being allowed to replace common sense instead of enhancing it as it should.
