before jumping on me, i know that his arms have been discussed at length, and i've read alot of it, but i haven't seen any explanation as to why they are so long. i mean SS 12' figs have been out forever and i have a few but haven't noticed the arm thing on them. is it the thin clothing Luke has on that allows us to see the arms better?

i know SS is renowned for making figs in accurate sales according to character heights. like Jason is about 13.5" tall. did they try to make Luke short by shortening his legs but didn't do anything w/ the arms? kinda like this guy did.

https://www.prophouse2000.com/adamwestburtward.html

as u can see he tried to make Burt Ward Robin more in scale w/ West Bats and while he did, it left Robin w/ Money arm syndrome. thing is, if they were trying to make Luke short, he isn't compared to most of my other 1/6 figs. he's taller that CY Girls and about the same height as Hasbro SW figs. so WHY are his arms longer?

oh and is Luke's bod a special type/version? different than the standard SS bod?

Yeah, ML... as was stated before... I think it's an issue with the "short" body that SSC produces. The arms are still the same size as the regular body. At least in this instance, seeing as though I do not have any other example besides Luke. But, I tested this theory by comparing my Roger Moore Bond figure with Luke and while they were two different heights... (Roger being taller), the arms were identical.

So that's where the problem lies. I think that they never really got any feedback on this before, so this would be the first issue like this to arise with the short body. So I'd be about 98% sure that it will be fixed by the time we see another character with the short body.... Leia maybe?

Either way, I love Luke the way he is... long arms and all! :chew

Oz and the apes from Planet of the Apes are on the short body. It's only Luke's tight fitting tunic that makes it more obvious than on the previous figures.

If the apes were the first to be on the short body the long arms may have been left for that reason, then when they got around to the others they'd forgotten about it. Dunno if that has any merit or not, but it sounds good doesn't it?

waitaminute...Luke is on the POTA body?! that'd be funny if i wasn't looking at my Luke right now. if i had a POTA fig i'd make an ape jedi.

so would it be pretty easy to switch out all of Luke onto an Art S Buck body? everything fit okay w/o much fuss? right now i'm trying to get his boots off so i can shove paper in them and then stick his feetless legs back in lol. i'm really not affected by his expression. i musta got a good paint because he doesn't look that shocked at all. a little high maybe. but the leg/arm ratio is driving me nuts.

how's the best way to get his boots off? hot water? they're on TIGHT!

LOL i tried taking off his boots too and i felt like i was going to rip his legs off! so i stopped. then people told me its not a good idea to take them off.... oh well! :D

I have a hard time believing that Sideshow wasn't aware of Luke's disproportionately long arms during production. I'm guessing it was a design flaw that they felt was too expensive to fix and thought people wouldn't notice.

It's funny, people complain about Lukes slightly longer than usual arms.

Yet, Medicom just added 2 longer posts to the bottome of Sith Vader's legs to make him taller. That makes his legs to long for his body, but that ok isn't it? I mean, we all have extremely long shin bones don't we?????

they made the legs shorter, so i doubt expense was an issue.

tried that. i'm now gonna try boiling water and WD40. then i'm gonna switch all of Luke onto a Maxwell Smart body.:D

luke's jumpsuit has socks or whatever you want to call them sewn onto his jumpsuit. it's all one piece, kinda like a child's "feet pajamas".

to put luke on a taller body, you'd have to cut the "socks" off the jumpsuit.

also, the regular sideshow body has bigger calves than the luke figure. the boots may not fit on a regular sideshow body.

When did it come out? Prior to July of 2003? That was when I got in to sideshow.
