Re: SSC Deluxe Clonetrooper?

Ok, I think I might be done spinning my wheels on this one. If you can't see the issue with what was written and how it was written, and how my posts are just part of the same discussion, then I don't really have anything else to add to that part of the thread.

Awesome, same for me.

Re: SSC Deluxe Clonetrooper?

Ya know what would be funny? We all order these and get the old phase 2 helmet! :lol :horror:thud:

Re: SSC Deluxe Clonetrooper?

With the upcoming revival/continuation of the franchise, it makes good sense to capitalize on the accompanying renewed fan interest. Also given the limited number of every OT trooper release and the aftermarket interest in the same, it's clear there's already some demand. I'm sure some people would like to get their hands on any SSC OT trooper, even a re-release with the same armor (i'm still looking for a couple myself). But this is an excellent opportunity to revisit the shortcomings of the first releases, especially if the tooling costs have been adequately amortized.

The Veteran Clone Trooper is the only one that's really captured my interest so far, and I'm not expecting I'll acquire another clone in the future. What I'd really like to see before release however is better weathering/damage application for production. While the preview figure looks good overall, some of the markings are a little too digital-print looking in their application.

Re: SSC Deluxe Clonetrooper?

Well js, a little fishy when the old is posted in pics on SSC's website. Not to call the production overseas dumb, but if they were given ref pics; wonder if they be like: "Wrong mold, go back to other!" :lol

Re: SSC Deluxe Clonetrooper?

I wonder if they're going to do a Jedi Stormtrooper. The entire armor on the Jedi version was remade wasn't it? Or was it just the helmet?

Re: SSC Deluxe Clonetrooper?

I don't think I even want to know what a Jedi Stormtrooper is. ;) For myself, if it didn't happen in any of the movies, it's not Star Wars.

EDIT: Ah, RotJ-version Stormtrooper costuming. I'm also not a stickler for specific-movie release prop replication for action figures, since that's more about production accidents/inconsistencies/laziness and production improvements than about the story line. The armor didn't change military-wide within the story between the second and third movies for instance. So I'm fine with picking any of the movies for trooper armor.

The Jedi Stormtooper, or FROM Return of the Jedi, I should say lol, is noticeably different than the original. I don't think I'm the only one who'd like to have that version as well.

So who else is excited for that backpack?:dance
That's one thing I'll get rid of if I buy a set. :lol

Yeah.. hilarious. :lol

Yep.

I don't like their new Vader, so I don't know if they'll wow me exactly or not, with their next OT trooper revisits, to be honest. We'll see..

I'm sure JKNO would... :monkey3

Only so noticeable, and more so important, to a Star Wars details nerd like some of us here on the forum. Most fans, casual or otherwise, really don't care even if they can see a difference. And most people can't until it's illustrated with examples and put directly under their noses. Neither angle is bad of course. From a sales perspective maybe it would be a good idea to do the RotJ version - it pleases the detail/prop types and everyone else just doesn't notice or care. ;) That casts the widest net.

It's the same as Vader and Boba Fett, people obsess over the helmet and suit differences. The Stormtrooper in Jedi had a completely new helmet, I'm sure people would buy both versions if they were released, or a deluxe Stormtrooper with both versions of the helmet. I would.

Re: SSC Deluxe Clonetrooper?

I have 3 SSC SW figures in total.

How's that for speaking with your wallet? :lol

I currently only have 2: Phase 1 Captain and ROTS Anakin :rock

I like speaking with my wallet. I had Boba EX on order, but cancelled when in hand pics showed up.

I'm considering getting two of the new 501st clone though. :D
Already have one on order.

Re: SSC Deluxe Clonetrooper?

Yeah, the phase1 clones are good. The only real gripe I've got with the current clone armour - apart from the inaccurate phase2 helmets, is the lower leg armour looking a little stumpy.

Re: SSC Deluxe Clonetrooper?

... the lower leg armour looking a little stumpy.

Yup! Plus, the Chuck Tailor look of the feet always bothers me. I know they had to make and executive decision based on the non physicality of the digital model, but I always thought the feet should be 3/4 boots with a universal dog bone joint. That would make these things absolutely perfect to me.
