Just got a bonus recently so I decided to go to another con to get a photo op and a shield signed, but I'm at another dilemma. I have both the recently released metal Hasbro shield and the eFX shield (which I actually want to get rid of since I like the Hasbro a lot more). I was gonna put a magnet on the metal Hasbro for a Cap cosplay and have the eFX signed (and possibly sold in the near future), but people are saying the Hasbro looks nicer and that I should get that signed and not do the magnet mod just yet, maybe on a 2nd one if I can find one to purchase. What are your suggestions/thoughts? Should I get another Hasbro shield so he could sign my current one, and then try to sell the eFX unsigned? Or should I get the eFX signed to display for a while or to sell for higher value? Or get both signed?
:huh :dunno
Thanks in advance!

Get a Thor hammer for him to sign. Then take a pic of him signing the hammer. Then have that picture printed, and then take a picture of him signing that picture of him signing the hammer.

Get it framed and call it Hammer Time.

There are a lot of Stan Lee signatures about and obviously more to come so value is not going to be that great. They both seem to be more of a displayable investment so it's down to you which you think suits your needs as this would be what you get most from.

Personally, I think you should have him sign something you are going to keep. If you plan on keeping the Hasbro shield, have him sign that. No point in really meeting him, paying for his autograph, and then selling that item for marginally more than it would be unsigned (probably losing money from paying for the autograph in the first place). He's not going to be around much longer so meet the living legend and have him sign something that means something to you. When he eventually passes, you'll treasure that signed item and the memory of meeting him more than the few bucks you might have made on another item you sold years ago.

I've been with my dad who's had him sign comics from his childhood. Nothing really special like key issues or anything, but just favorites of my Dad's. Stan really seemed to enjoy those because he was like, "Hey guys, look at this one. I remember this one... " and then he'd give a summery of the issue to his handlers and anyone in earshot. I think he's signed so many key issues over the years its more interesting for him to see someone bring a random issue for him to sign and hear the story why that issue was significant for them. As busy as they always have him at cons and as many autographs they farm out of him, he still tries to make each one feel special to the person he's signing it for and for that I have a tremendous amount of respect for the guy. He never phones it in. He knows how lucky he has been and seem to truly be grateful for all the success he's had and for the joy his creations have brought people.

If he has a panel at your con, go to it! He's always entertaining. And Hot Toys chose wisely with giving him a smiling headsculpt because he really is always smiling and having a great time! :D

and if you want to sell it make sure to insist not to have the signature dedicated to his name.

i mean, who'd wanna buy a used item with Stan Lee's signature "For The Love Of Evilface".

If you have to get a shield signed, get the Hasbro Metal one signed. Get rid of the eFx.

Thanks for this response! I am definitely trying to attend his panel when I go. I love to hear his stories!

Sadly, I don't own any of his comic books. I wish I did, but I was never really a comic book collector, I would read them but never really owned any personally, or if I did, they're hidden somewhere or was written by someone else, but I grew up with all of his creations, which became cartoon shows and movies, etc. I feel like I'm cheating myself if I decide to go out and buy one of his comics and get it signed because it was more about the characters he brought to life to me. Even though he didn't create him, Cap has been one of my favorites of his (Spider-Man, X-Men, Dr. Doom being the others), I already got my Spider-Man PF signed, I only hope he knew that the girder he signed was part of the statue but he might have not recognized it and been like, WTF is this?? :lol and while I didn't get the Sideshow X-Men full team print waitlist conversion which I wanted him to sign, the next most symbolic item I have associated with him is probably Cap's shield. I'm definitely keeping the Hasbro, but at the same time I want to get rid of the eFX since it had a hefty price tag and I'm worried no one will want to buy it now that the Hasbro is out unless there's an extra incentive, hence the autograph. I'm actually even scared that I would want to keep it and try to hang it up because that autograph on it makes me almost forget that price tag, but at the same time I want to try to get my money back since this collectibles hobby is an expensive one. :lol
