I don’t collect Hot Toys but if I ever do they will be Shin Hati hot toys :lol

I am really digging this character.. Man I hope they don’t ruin her by having her come to the good side.

This is the most I have enjoyed a new SW character in a long time.
I’m sure this will come as a great surprise (as long as you ignore my entire profile), but I completely agree. She’s so intense in a great way, and she doesn‘t need tons of dialogue to make an impression and give you a lot to think about. I think both her and Stevenson are the absolute standouts from a performance perspective as well, adding so much depth and history to them. It’s kind of the way Lucas introduced antagonists like Boba and even Vader in ANH that would go on to be fan favourites. Not a lot of dialogue, not a lot of backstory in the beginning. All left up to you, the viewer. Leaving you with questions.

I’d personally really love to see some more hints of her backstory with Baylan and how their relationship was forged before we lose Ray Stevenson’s magnetic performance. I think it’d be powerful if it involves some kind of tragedy/trauma that kind of explains this darkness that’s overtly present for her, especially during combat. I think thematically it would really express what I feel Filoni is going for with the more ‘grey morality’ being portrayed. Giving reason to why Baylan would be magnanimous to her. But we’ll have to see. As a viewer I really want to see this story AND I also want to see what Shin would do without Baylan’s guiding hand there. A hand which presumably has been there for as long as she can really remember. Where she’d have to make her own choice. In every scene the two share, she’s constantly looking for his guidance, which is cool to differentiate them from other dark side users, but also leaves her own personal goals up to interpretation.

Another small detail I’ve been thinking about is the fact that she easily could have escaped instead of fighting Sabine, yet she stayed. Perhaps that’s the first ‘Jedi’ she’s ever met, and she wants to learn more about them in some way, but that’s immediately cut off by the duel. That’s when that far-off, angry look returns, and she’s back focused on the mission. Then she sees this ‘Jedi’ is completely incompetent. That’s really kind of all me reading into Ivanna Sakhno’s performance though, so who knows if Filoni actually thought that through.

After the first two I kind of thought she might turn back, but I now think it’d be a waste. It also wouldn’t work in the way the show is playing it, these characters are not meant to be all good or all evil. I do think it’s interesting that her entire perception of the Jedi has been laid on her by a master who is completely disillusioned with the order.

Looking to the future, she could be a real physical antagonist throughout the Mandoverse playing off of Thrawn’s mental abilities, rather than them having to go about introducing another new force user down the line for Ahsoka, Ezra and Sabine to fight.

But yeah, I completely agree, fantastic character because of the subtleties and the mysteries. Really loving her and hope they utilise her as well as they’ve set her up. Baylan and her have given me some hope for Star Wars again because they’re not characters which require homework. They’re just new, really interestingly portrayed characters with a lot of depth.

Yeah her intense looks and presence won me over right away. Boba Fett is a good comparison (from the OT) because she looks cool and you know there is a history there.

I am not sure I want any back story… We saw how that went for fett. Sometimes it’s good to have your own made up lore.

I would be so cool with her being bad just for the sake of being bad and wanting power. Good enough for me. :lol

But that’s my fear of them screwing her up. Making her sympathetic or something.

That’s totally valid! I get that point of view completely. Like you said, trusting Disney SW at this point to deliver the kind of stuff I would want to see with her is like walking into McDonald’s and expecting a five star restaurant. It’s just not happening. I would love for there to be understandable motives and reasons for how we ended up here with her, but at the same time, she’s still leaning way more dark side. I think you could do that really effectively, but again, trusting them on hitting that balance is just a bad idea.

Don’t remind me that Book of Boba exists…oh no I had blocked that out :rotfl. It’s a perfect comparison and probably why they shouldn’t touch a backstory in a show.

I think there is such a great opportunity to do something three dimensional with her from a villainy standpoint that still keeps her as the antagonist. But any sympathy, as you said, probably leads to a redemption because three dimensional isn’t what Disney Star Wars does. I’m probably being way too optimistic.

I'm really liking Shin as well as Baylan, I think they're the standouts of the show so far.

But even before the show came out ive been saying I plan to get Shin, main reason being, she reminds me of one of my favorite/ one of the most iconic Power Rangers villains from my childhood, Astronema:

She'll turn good just like Asajj Ventress did.

She turned good? Why does that remind me of Grace Jones in a View to a Kill....
She walks away from the Sith order, becomes a bounty hunter, and briefly teams up with Ahsoka toward the end.

I think one of the Disney novels then made her a lesbian and killed her off but we'll see if that stays "canon" or not.

No, she had a romantic relationship with Quinlan Vos - a male Jedi.

He appears in "The Clone Wars" and is name checked by Obi-Wan in "Obi-Wan Kenobi" as one of the Jedi helped by The Path;

He also (tenuously) appears in Episode I: The Phantom Menace;

Might I say this show may have the best sound design and music out of almost any Star Wars period.

This episode was very well done, Baylan and Shin continue to be standouts for me, but I feel Baylan is too focused on throwing hints of his past at the audience without anything ever being explained.

The true downfall of this show so far I think is Sabine, this episode really ****** her over and gave her some of the dumbest moments a character has had since Kenobi. Its like Starlord in Infinity War levels of stupidity coming from her character.

And I'm still speechless over her helmet flying off after hitting a f*cking tree! Oh how f*cked the children of the watch if thats ALL it takes for your helmet to come off... Please bring back helmeted protagonists besides the Mandalorian, Disney.

OMFG. I didn’t see that coming at the end. This episode had so much tension and quite a few surprises. Also I’m now dying laughing over all the silly Marrok theories.

Baylan and Shin are the closest we’ve come to live action KOTOR characters.

Great lightsaber battles in this.

That Ezra
in disguise surprise was a big nothing
lol

THAT was great. (spoiler free)

I have enjoyed most of the series so far, never letting the warts bother me, or nitpick the hell out of ever little detail.....

After all the OT and defiantly the PT and ST have there share of stupidity and silliness.

That episode was the SW I wanted so badly as a young man....sitting back with my drink after a long day and being drawn in more and more as it progessed.

The cinematography and score really are some of the best of any SW material so far. I keep marveling at the shots.

The duel choreography has been unrelenting good. No "twirling baton" garbage we got in the OT....but a much more Kurasowa like fighting that made the early Japanese samurai films so tense. We have heavy lightsabers back, and the gravity associated with then once again. Which is so refreshing to watch. You can feel them reading each other and then short calculated attacks and defense. These were the battles I expected from established Jedi and Sith after OT.

The story is finally getting some meat to its bones , although I apprcoate the slow meander in which they took the first episodes. You have to make the audience at least see the characters as people before we can care what happens to them. The villains and their motives is just as intereting as the good guys struggle.

They greyness of all the characters is a refreshing change from the cackling badguy and flawless good guy of most SW stories.

Now , we can watch the last half of the show, none of which is in the trailers at all.....

Excellent Episode and the show is really getting good as it picks up steam.

yeah I agree. But something weird was going on there......

Ok… Say what you want about any of the other episodes ( though I think you are wrong :lol)

But can we all admit that was the best episode of any of the SW shows Disney had to offer.

I was actually in suspense.. ya know how long that has been for a SW product to do that to me… Yep ESB.

This episode had great music, great saber duels, and great villain moments.

I’m worried they will blow it but so far this is easily my fav SW show. Perfect villains, no cute little Yoda babies, no stupid casting, no dumb humor and it actually feels like SW.

Andor was great but a bit boring. Not so with this show.

What makes this show and to a lesser extent, Andor, is that it knows how important great villains are to SW. something Mando was missing and something that Fett didn’t elven try. Obi wan had Vader but the rest of the show was awful.

And Shin is such a bad ***. I don’t know if she can ever turn good because she is so good at being bad!!!
