I finally had time to watch "The Axe Forgets" and it was another good one.

I especially liked the Mon Mothma parts o the episode.

Imagine how much differently Leia's kidnapping scene would have played out in Obi-Wan if Gilroy & company had also helmed that show. Maybe not quite so ridiculous? But then ridiculous is so much more fun to talk about.

I feel like its new age Star Wars. The older ones are just full of holes and corny at times.. Not sure what Lucas was thinking but apparently it worked.

The show is great, I expected the raid the last episode though instead of the cliffhanger haha. The only reason was Topps put out a set of cards for episodes 1-3, and then a set for episodes 4-5, so I thought this was wrapping the arc up. Odd on Topps end, but anyway I'm just loving the show, so tense all over and all the actors are killing it.

I was kinda worried when I heard this was another buildup episode for the raid, but I thought they actually did a good job with it, and it was cool seeing Cassian show off some of those rebel instincts of his and a bit of leadership quality. And it really makes me hope we'll see more of that, as it's far more interesting than him just being this sullen loner type like we've mostly gotten so far.

Still can't say I'm totally wowed by the show, but I am really digging the atmosphere and I'm intrigued enough to keep watching.

So not a lot of talk about Mon so far, but from here we learn she has a family.

In Star Wars Rebels, she goes out publicly against the Emperor. I wonder what happens to her family? I assume they will be at risk too so they either die before Rebels happens, they come and help her cause, or they betray her causing her to go public.

So far, she seems over her head but she's going into the rebellion really quickly from here.

Sometimes we all watch movies together. He doesn't get to sit on the couch with us, he has his own corner and the cage fits better there.

So he thought that's his new name. He can be high maintenance. Always asking why he has to operate the camcorder after putting on the Penguin suit and why can't he eat at the table with the "adults". But he's a Sagittarius. So that explains most of it.

Sometimes he weeps and says, "I feel my real name is Shawn Corey Carter!"

His name is what I say his name is going to be. And that's that with all that.

I was away from these forums for over a decade. I know it's a shock to some here, but I evolved into someone much more progressive. I feel guilty sometimes for laughing at him when he tries to change the camcorder battery while using those fin paws on the penguin suit. Beyonce is the worst though, she screams, "Battery, Aziz!"

It's not cruelty, it's discipline. That's the big lesson here.

Made it through episode 4 which is tough. Becusse it’s boring. It’s really boring. It’s way too slow and drawn out and no that’s not an issue with my attention span it’s due to the incredibly humorless characters and lack of fun.

What I love about this though it’s quality. Yes Obi wan feels cheap and low budget by comparison.

What I’m hoping for here is a strong payoff. If it does that it would be a winner at this point its stylistically interesting and a fresh mkre adult take on Star Wars but it’s missing the substance of character and story. Something Rogue one had.

I still maintain these are not good materials for series but should be a sequence of stand alone steaming films that cut out about 75% of the filler content.

The biggest issue I have so far is the poor characterization and writing of Andor himself. Diego Luna is one of the most naturally funny quick witted and naturally charismatic actors around today. And a bit of that charm came through in Rogue One despite him being written as a relatively straight laced character. Here it’s completely absent. The guy has zero and I mean zero personality.

In fact had it not been for the Mon Mothma content I bet I’d have fallen asleep.

Is it slow and boring or is everyone’s attention span just awful. My kids love this show and that’s surprised even me. I think sometimes they like watching more adult stuff and as long as it’s visual (which it is) and the characters are interesting or they are talking about interesting things they are into it. I see this show almost like a cinematic stage play, none of these characters particularly like or at least, remotely trust each other. I fear their raid next episode is going to go really sideways.

It gains my respect for being so intelligently crafted. That alone is so refreshing in the Star Wars universe.

Time spent developing characters and story was sorely needed with Star Wars.

Before, it was a plot exposition dump, screen wipe, off to the next planet.

Here you're in the trenches so you can have the extra time to wonder what someone is thinking.

I really like Syril Karn especially in this scene. It feels like he'll creep through the whole season and show up just when things are going well to mess it up for Cassian.
