Superman belts.....

I've seen so many wonderful Superman customs on these thread. I wonder how do you guys replace or re-clip the original Hot Toys Superman back into the Superman1978 figure? Those belts are so hard to put back once they come off. Would any customizer here know of a way to do this or any material i would need to purchase...to accomplish the look pictured below.


Can a Fabric belt give me the same look or does it have to be plastic?
