Hey friends,

Okay, my new question is, there was a limited edition Christopher Reeves made at some point, maybe several years ago. It was pretty amazing, I have seen photos on this forum sometime last year.

Anyway, what are my options for getting a really accurate Christopher Reeves Custom figure made.

I want him to go next to my Custom Keaton Batman!!!!

Can you guys give me some suggestions? I searched for Superman but there were just too many discussions and too many topics. LOL

Thanks!!!!!

Well,

there are numerous chris reeve heads available.

the version you're probably referring to is the super rare 1/4th version.

but if you're looking for a 1/6th chris reeve, you might be in luck.

i know of a few versions...

i will rank the heads in order of greatness...(my opinion)

1. the les walker head is probably the best. consult les for this head.

2. the alex ross head. check ebay for the guy who supposidly has a connection to alex ross and who says every head sold is the last one he'll cast.

3. the jim maddox head. good luck getting a copy of it.

4. the jim maddox bust. again, good luck getting a copy of it.

5. the andgor head. contact this forum's admin, darklord dave. maybe he'll cast you one of his.

*EDIT*

left to right is the "alex ross head" and the andgor head... i forgot how nice that andgor head is. it might be the best.

Is this a joke? By that I mean the part about someone recasting the head? One of the reasons the folks who use to sculpt for Andgor wont do custom heads anymore is that their work was recast over and over.

Hope you don't mind the bump. I really can't seem to find a lot of information on Custom Chris Reeves Superman figures.....

I just want to really research this before I plunge in and spend a ton of money!

nope, no joke.

usually, i'm 100% against recasters, but those scumbags at andgor ripped me and many, many people off. dave happened to get lucky and somehow got his heads from them and was nice enough to make me a copy of his chris reeve head, which i paid andgor for, but never got.

and i imagine the reason "joy and tom" don't sculpt for andgor anymore is probably because sam gordich ripped them off too, like he did everyone else in this hobby.

Hey Captain Sack, you are amazing. Thanks SO VERY much. Wow. That is incredible! That is exactly what I was needing!

You are the man!

i'm currently working on a chris reeve custom. i hired a tailor to make me some suits and for the most part, i'm happy with them, but they need some alterations, and i'm having trouble getting him to reply to my emails.

if i ever hear from him again, you might be interested in contacting him and getting one of les walker's heads.(if you have no sewing, sculpting or painting talent like me, you can at least take pride in assembling the figure)

two of the biggest flaws i've seen with reeve customs are the way the cape is placed at the neck and the boots(most are too bulky or baggy).

other flaws are using a body that's too bulky, having an incorrect "S" symbol, and not getting the neckline right.

this costume is flawless....

If I may... I have a head that I've sculpted... Here are some shots of it here, unpainted. The Green wax version is the one I'm finishing up the finer details...

Here's the recast of a sculpt in wax and I have drawn the eyes and eyebrows in to help visualise the finish work...

Those are beautiful. I don't know what to do! haha I think I would very much like the Superman Custom that I get, to have the half smile.

I REALLY like the look of the smiling Christopher Reeves.

Anyone else?>???????

That Dan Chung Supes is the best likeness I ever saw
check out his website...but dude be prepared to pay thousands for one of his customs...and good luck finding them...they pop on ebay once in a blue moon..his user is eBay: daoyan....his custom Gladiator never hit the reserve....probably had a reserve of like 1500.00...amazing work tho...not sure if you could get that cash back on a resale tho

I have the Alex Ross head too and neither it or the Andgor are perfect, although both are recognizable. The Ross head is a perfect Superman, but it's more an idealized version of Chris rather than a dead-on likeness.

I'm planning on making another one with the Ross head and try some new things with the costuming. Who knows when I'll get around to it though.

And I won't recast other people's work - but I think the reason that the Andgor Reeve has been recast so much is that it isn't widely available.

It really does show how far ahead of all of the others Les' Supes is.

It's perfection.

Thank you! :bow
That comment means a lot to me. (I assume you are speaking of the headsculpt?)

There are some mighty fine Superman figures in there, and that one that Cap Sack said had the best costume, does. It is astounding! Never saw it before. Except the reds are smidgen too red, his was more a tomato-y red than a pure, solid red, which is popular, but otherwise, I must admit, it is tremendous in it's simplicity and outright capture of Reeve's build. Even the body's legs and thighs look like Reeves. Really nice work, whoever did that one.

I don,t know if this helps but i have the figure that Les is talking about ,The one i have i put together from parts i got around 10 years ago from a guy called Kris Meadows ,Mine has a older head sculpt ,which is less cartoony and IMO has a better likeness to the actors look as Superman, anyway the body is the large bulky 1970s Mego doll with the lower legs ,From the knee down swaped for the slim body Mego doll , While not perfect it realy makes a difference ,and better reflects Mr Reeves body type .You are right about the costume, its the best 1/6 scale suit work i have seen or owned ,On a side note Wes from classic plastic run me up a pair of Chris Reeves 1/6 boots ,they are rubber cast in red and are about 2 inches longer than Wes,s regular boots ,again they make a large improvment on the bulky ,too short ,stlye of boot seen on a lot of customs, Give Wes a call ,those boots will fit the slimer Mego legs real nice
