In the electro trailer at comic con electro says "no matter what you do doc you cant contain it" Im sure doc ock is somwhere to be seen in this movie.

Could also be in reference to Dr. Kafka, the director at Ravencroft. Excellent point though and wouldn't surprise me. I remember them name-dropping her a while back, during casting time.

Interestingly enough though, I heard a guy was cast for the role....but Kafka has always been female. So not sure if I'm missing something here or what, or maybe I'm making all of this up. :lol

I like the costume too, every time I watch the trailer I get a little more into it, the kid playing Harry looks like a *********, I like that :lol looks like it could be a good dynamic with Peter.

I've been wanting to read some Spidey comics, this trailer makes me want to start, any arcs or self contained stories you can recommend so I can start?

Colm Feore is in this too. Certainly he's somebody.

I read an article the other day that said he plays the character, Donald Menkin. He's Norman Osborn's 'go-to' guy - basically, assistant.

I never recalled that name from the comics, but he's the real deal. Not a prominent player, but nonetheless. :lol

Well to be fair harry is a douchbag there is know way around it. He will always be peter's ******* friend. Harry was an ******* until he redeemed himself and died saving peter from the explosion in the comics. Every incarnation especially if you look at SSM harry was always an ******* so in this they amped it up a notch and made him look like a rich douchy kid.

Im glad they made him look like a kid you'd love to hate.

To help get some history about characters in this one? Hmmmm. Like we were talking about before, it sounds like an amalgamation of 616 and Ultimate, so it's difficult to say where to start, IMO.

I'd definitely check out the ASM - 'Trial By Jury' arc. That was a big one for the Parker's (parents) backstory.

As for the Ultimate arcs, I'd focus on the 'Clone Saga.'

This will give you a good idea about Richard Parker and his background a bit more. It's not all encompassing, but may help lay some groundwork as to what to expect in ASM2, with the 'untold story' part of things.

I'm sure some others here will chime in with recommendations though. There's just so much, many of which may be 'hit or miss' based on what Webb decided to take from.

Thanks man, well, not looking for anything that specifically this movie is based on, just some good stories or arcs, but will definitely check those, I've always liked Spidey's paraphernalia but I've never got around to read the comics.

:lol:lol

Thanks for the spoiler :lol but yeah, he looks like a preppy little ****** :lol looking forward to see their interactions.

No problem! It's really good stuff. The thing that sucks is they put out so many side titles (most of which I haven't read, BTW) that'll end up 'rewriting' what you read 50+ issues ago in another series. And then it's all 'game over' and that's IF you're even lucky enough to have stumbled upon a title that rewrote the past. :lol I can't even keep track with all of the crossover stuff.

'Tis the rules of comics though. Nothing is forever. :lol

Yup, I'm used to that :lol just like in movies, they'll remake them every 10-15 years anyway :panic:

Just got done watching ASM again, including that mid-credits scene.

They've got to be implying in the trailer that the 'shadowy' figure from ASM is the same person in the ASM2 trailer. In fact, I'm looking at my TV comparing it to a screen shot in the new trailer. Looks identical. Why else even throw that scene in the trailer? (And yes, I'm bored. :lol)

I'm by no means an expert on spidey comics, took me a while to find where to start reading a few years back too, and I found that the ultimate spiderman comics were a great place to start. Just start at the beginning as they're all collected in trades. Although I've been getting the big ultimate collections which collect a years worth each I think so I'm quite behind. While I don't really like what they did with the green goblin they're still really well written and I find it does a great job of characterisation and getting you invested in the characters.

There are also other random books but I found that's a good place to start. Spiderman Blue is also a great stand alone book, really well written with a pretty heartbreaking last page.

Hope that helps at all.

So far, i'm impressed by a lot of things, and unsure about a few as well. I wonder if the voice that says "The Future" after Harry(I assume that's him) says "what is all this?" at 1:24 is a transformed Norman Osborn. The voice has a little bit of distortion in it.

I've not actually piped in yet either with my thoughts on the trailer (not that anyone was waiting :lol) but I do really like it. I just hate electro's voice. Not crazy about his look so far either but I don't really hate it either, will wait and see how it is in the movie. But everything else I really like. I love how they're building the world and love the look of spidey himself. Really excited about this. While also a little nervous. I never enjoyed the Raimi films but really liked AMS so I'm hoping this can be a spidey series I can get behind.

I agree complete. Everything in the Ultimates was a good read. And it's really nice nowadays, with tradebacks being released.

I'll have to check it out again. Will chime in again on this.

I really enjoyed the Raimi films, but I don't know what it was about Webb, but it really opened up a lot of possibilities, IMO. If they can duplicate what they did was TASM and bring it up a notch, I'll be extremely happy. I know a lot of people didn't care for TASM, but I found it really enjoyable. I've seen it more times than I care to admit, and it still has a 'fresh' quality about it.

^^^^ Awesome stuff. :rock Glad you enjoyed it. I'm looking forward to more of these in the coming months.

Doesn't sound like the man in the shadows at all.
