The problem is the version of Boba Fett being presented not TM acting.

I would take even worse acting than TM if the character was presented as an unrepentant villain.

I don’t get why we need an antihero after already getting an antihero that wears basically the same costume, Mando!

Hell they gave us plenty of antiheroes who were basically the same costume with Cob, Bo, Koska and the 3rd wheel Mandalorian jettisoned for girl power remember him lol

So why why WHY couldn’t Boba Fett had just been allowed to be a villain for the Mandalorian to fight!

That actually sounds bad ***!

But nope!

I’m guessing Boba Fett is gonna help Mando invade Mandalore.

Not my Boba Fett!
Yep 99% of Star Wars villains end up reformed at this point. Even Darth Maul who literally looked like Satan himself had a touching "save the Chosen One" moment in Obi-Wan's arms! :slap

Boba Fett was such a great unrepentantly "in it for the money" counterpoint to Han and Lando with awesome unique armor and he's now been robbed of both those aspects.

They literally had the perfect setup. Show stopping moment on Tython where he slaughters an entire squad of Stormtroopers then pretends to be Mando's friend like he did with Luke and Chewie in the Holiday Special. Then we learn that he was secretly working for Gideon (which tracked perfectly with Gideon saying "Just assume that I know everything") and then bam surprise turn and Mando has to deal with the super badass that played him for a fool. It was literally all laid out in front of them and then they do a complete 180 for this crap. :gah::banghead

I'm talking about setting, costume, social structures and historical associations, the train, the "their lands" thing, etc etc. That's this show.

You mean one end of a Tusken weapon (um, Han Solo's weapon is 90% a German officer's pistol, should we give a cultural/ideological association there? 😬) and a short dance that is performed pretty much anywhere for anything now?

Haka shows up in F&F for crying out loud. It may be controversial, but Haka is performed literally everywhere now, even by non-Maori. It's not some obscure, little-known cultural act - TM knows its been a TV and tourism standard for decades, so he was more than willing to sell it out (yet again) for a Disney TV show.

And its actually debatable that it's "his" to give away.

TM is "proud" just to have work at this point, and the filmmakers obviously encouraged any "empowering" multicultural trapping they could shoehorn into their new-age "indigenous" Tuskens. And no, curiously, they didn't ask for anything cultural from TM's Scottish/Irish half.

It's just exploitative. Like Haka being performed by non-Maori or by American football teams. And it's inappropriate to associate it with animalistic savage creatures.

Since it's now such a "swell" thing to shoehorn real life cultural stuff into Star Wars are we going to get a scene in The Mandalorian season 3 of Mando all depressed sitting alone by his festively lit Christmas tree surrounded by presents intended for Grogu that can't be delivered?

Maybe Vader will intrude on the Thanksgiving dinner that Kenobi is hosting for all the Tuskens and Jawas that have no place else to go?

Also like people have been saying they could have easily cast a younger, leaner actor who never revealed his face but had a uniquely gravelly voice (not TM's.) Then PT fans who wanted to pretend that it was still TM under the helmet could do so while others could see him as a straight (original) OT continuation and nothing more.

Daniel Logan is the perfect age to play post ROTJ Fett.

His acting isn't a problem for me, it's that so far I just think Pedro's Mando is more consistent with my expectations of Boba Fett.
Probably because Mando shared some of the core elements that made Boba Fett a fan favorite. Both were mysterious, direct, good at their jobs, and looked cool as ****. We don't need to know about Boba's childhood trauma or even his personal life, if he even had one.

The mystery was such an important part of his appeal. The more we learn about him, the further we move from what made him Boba Fett. He's barely recognizable anymore, with the exception of the occasional glimpse of the old Fett when he's in full costume, not saying much, being direct and to the point. He's basically a different character now, which is not necessarily a bad thing, just not what fans were expecting.

Watching ROTJ right now. Fett flies from the sail barge (with his gun already out), over to the skiff to try and shoot Luke point blank (who's main ability is to swing at people within arms length). Surprise surprise, his gun gets cut in half as soon as he lands. Classic badass Fett.

Absolutely not what happened!

Luke used force pull to bring Fett closer for the kill!

Mando Season 2 ended with not one but two perfect "final moments" of classic OT characters.

Yes for me the ST still "counts" but I love the idea of watching the movies and then after the ST circling back to Mando and ending on an awesome note for both Luke and Fett. I think Mando Season 2 might just have to be my official jumping off point for anything set after the OT going forward.

If Andor or Kenobi or Ahsoka are cool then great but for me it goes OT/ST/Mando 1&2 then done.

You’re right it’s not a bad thing it’s called Mandalorian season one and two lol

Mando redeemed Fett's tactic of flying to within point blank range of an opponent.

I first I didn’t like fennec being there it should’ve just been his holiness badass there alone but what the hell he can have his side piece there why not.

At least it’s not Andy Cohen next to him.

Didn't Pedro think he was initially being cast as Boba Fett due to the similarities?

Din is clearly a decent guy, but **** with him and you'll get what's coming to you (aka strung up and fed to pack of wild beasts). He's respectful, yet still a badass.
