"Men will spend $163 on their valentines; women, just $84. Some of the most popular gifts men plan to buy are flowers (58.2 percent), candy (45.0 percent) and jewelry (26.5 percent)."

This quote shows the traditional gayness I was talking about. Time to equal up ladies. :wave

The GF despises Valentine's Day for this very reason (it's so commercial and isn't about love as much as obligatory purchasing of contrived products). For that alone she may be a keeper. :lol

Yeah, she really does hate it. The other day she literally said "The only good thing about Valentine's Day are the Necca Sweethearts candies", so I guess I'm out a total of $1.99 this year. I tried to counter with other things that are cool about it... like the fact that I could also purchase Transformers Valentine's at Target, but she wasn't having any of it. :lol

Such awesomeness in one female brings a tear of joy to my eye. :monkey2

Don't let this one go man. :chew

I am in total agreement. I detest Valentine's Day almost as much as I detest what Christmas has become. V-Day is a contrived 'greeting card' holiday that's not at all about love, but a lot of lovers think that if their significant other doesn't get them something on valentine's day, that means they doesn't love them. Ridiculous - I'd much rather have love shown throughout the year rather than on one silly day made up by a corporation. Same with Mother's and Father's Days...

Also, I just don't want to feel obligated to buy a present just because of the day and because advertisers tell me I need to. I will buy presents whenever I darn well please!!

That is why I try to make my own cards.... just to rub salt in the greeting card company's eyes. :lol

Well, if I had a boyfriend, a homemade card would mean 100 times more to me than some crappy store bought card. :) V-Day used to make me sad.....not because I didn't get gifts, I could care less about that, but it just reminded me that I was alone. It's nice being able to share your life with someone and this day just kind of gives me a kick in the head that yes, once again I don't have that special someone. Now days it doesn't bother me anymore.....I have a HORRIBLE relationship track record, and I would much rather be alone than with some of the people I've dated in the past. Plus, I have a great group of other single female friends, and we spend this evening eating a wonderful meal, drinking good wine and making each other laugh. It will be a very fun evening and a reminder that even though I may be technically "alone" I have a great bunch of friends to share my life with and that is also very, very good.

This is my favorite 1/6 figure out of all I own. The Firespekter totally rocks and I gotta give props to Galactiboy for helping me create my avatar! :rock

You jaded types are funny... so you buy some candy, flowers have a nice dinner. It shouldn't be a big deal, sadly it sometimes does and thats silly. But I look at it as just something to do in the middle of February.

Or if your single, have a nice dinner alone and treat yourself to some pornography... its all about showing the one you care about love :love

Although I do think Sweetest Day is a complete load of crap :lol
