Hello - I have missed you all. I have been gone from the board for some time now.

I just saw the movie THE DEPARTED and I must say that it is the best movie of 2006. I was wondering what you guys thought of it and I highly recommend you seeing it.

you just can't go wrong from a Scorcese film. You can't. I myself will be watching it soon.

I too would like to see it a second time. I thought this movie was Scorcese's best and the performances of Jack, Leo, Matt, Martin, and Mark were spectacular. I was on the edge of my seat the whole time and my wife, who hates blood and the "F" word, loved the movie.

I like Scorsese and have enjoyed even his recent pics, but this one was definitely one of his best. I know Leo and Matt have had their naysayers, but I can't believe anyone could still put them down as wannabes after this film.

Definite recommend.

I will Tom but I just wasn't sure if you wanted to drive all the way down to San Antonio Texas for just a movie. :monkey5

For a movie, no.

For a movie and you, yes--if you promise to hold me like you did back on Naboo.

I saw the departed yesterday and I liked it very much. I still like the Infernal Affairs better but Scorcese did an awesome job nontheless. :D

Hey, just a question. Is this film a remake of that really popular HK detective movie?

From The Wikipedia... [From which you may take as many grains of salt as you like.] https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Departed

The Departed is a film by directorMartin Scorsese, released on October 6, 2006. It is an Americanremake of the popular Hong Kong crime thrillerInfernal Affairs. The screenplay was written by William Monahan, who based it on an original script by Felix Chong and Siu Fai Mak.

if you guys have the chance, i would recommend the movie Infernal Affairs which this movie is based on. i feel the original is still better, there are things here and there that was changed in The Departed. should give Infernal Affairs a try... by the way there are 3 parts altogether, the original movie is a trilogy.

Saw Departed last week. Excellent film. Great acting all around. Scorcese gets back into his mode.

I saw the movie for a scecond time Yesturday. I think I liked it better the first time because it had so many twists and turns in it. I definatley think that The Departed is in my top 10 favorite movies of all time. I am now going to try and find the original (trilogy?) and check it out as well.

Just to give you a taste of what I like... other favorite movies are The Count of Monte Cristo, The Island, Donnie Brasco, The Bourne movies, The LOTR movies, and Tombstone.

If only scorcese hadn't follow some sort of a hollywood code that all movies must have a happy ending. I thought the last scene where matt was killed by mark was not necessary. I would have like him to live, after being so cunning and escaping getting caught and all. With him dying it is like - what? everyone dies in the end :monkey2

And now that I recall, the movie didn't show what was in the package that leonardo gave to matt's girlfriend. The chemistry between the 2 of them wasn't really clear either. I mean they were just doctor and patient and then just on one rainy night, he came to visit and then rest we all know. No reason really for her to do that i thought.

Wow, Grrittttttttttttttttttty! I finally got around to seeing this last night. It was funny just as the credits roll, it was palatable, everyone looked around and smiled. It was as if we had all experienced something memorable together, what it was we didn't know, but umph, that movie took a lot out of me.

:clap
