Has there been any word on whether or not John Howe and Alan Lee are going to work on The Hobbit? I consider their contribution to be just as important as PJ or Ian Mckellan.

I hope they're part of it. Would add one less thing I have to worry about when it comes to these films.

Not only are John Howard and Alan Lee essential, but so is Howard Shore. His music to the LOTR added so much more to the movies. All three have to be present for The Hobbit.

Shore, Allan, and Howe are all essential parts od LOTR! Shore is my all time favorite composer and he all makes such beautiful music. They all need to be included because the Hobbit will need to be perfect! 2010 can not come any sooner.:monkey2

No doubt, Howard Shore REALLY stepped up to the plate, his music was PERFECT for every scene, come on who doesnt get chills when Aragorn jumps off the boat and those epic trumpets blast in time with his steps!

I like Shore too but he is your all-time fave? Thats pretty high praise.

The question is how many of Del Toro's trusted friends and previous coworkers he will want on the project with him. (The Harry Potter rotating directors all bring in new crew members--director of photography, editor, composer, etc.) Del Toro will want to work with Guillermo Navarro as his DP, for example, and not Andrew Lesnie. On a project of this magnitude, you are going to want to surround yourself with your trusted team, not just pop in as the director for hire and work with a bunch of total strangers.

He is also typically involved in the writing of his screenplays, and that is a worry if he hasn't read Tolkien.

That scares me. :horror

Well Shore and Williams are neck and neck. I like Shore a pinch more just because LOTR is my favorite movie.:D

Ok. Are you saying he is your favorite movie composer or your favorite composer period? I mean you like him more than Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, Chopin, Liszt, Rachmaninoff, Stravinsky, Tchaikovski, etc..... (asking this of course with no idea how into classical music you are)...

I'm sorry pix out of the movie score somposers.:lol He is my favorite:rotfl

John Howe, Alan Lee and Howard Shore should be definitely in. Their contribution to the lord of the rings was huge. But doesn't anyone think about the other artists such as Ben Wootten? His contribution was also very large. I think it's also very important to have the weta team in - but I don't think I need to worry about that... :D

Weta + Howe + Lee + Shore > Del Torro. If he wants to bring in anyone other than those people I would tell him to get bent. In addition, Ian McKellan, Christopher Lee, Cate Blanchett, Hugo Weaving and whoever else I'm forgetting (Iam Holm I can live without) is important.

Say it Fritz!! :lecture

I hope they're all in, too. It doesn't matter who is directing, we'd still be worried about this.

How about

Weta + Howe + Lee + Shore + Del Toro > Nothing

I don't remember reading anywhere that Del Toro would omit the help of the people who brought LoTR to life????
