No, it's plastic. As Mike said its a great deal for a prop replica and from what I understand dimension wise is exactly what we will see on screen.

The writing on the key is dwarvish.

Second pic I've seen that makes the key look lopsided on the base, illusion or real?

It's all about how you put it on the base. One end is higher than the other.

In my photo it's on the stand correctly. Put it on the wrong way, and it's a big difference. However, because the larger end is heavier, it tends to life the one end up slightly off the base - hence the slight lopsidedness.
