Since the other thread had to be deleted because some folks can't abide by board rules and avoid unnecessary ad hominen personal attacks, here is the replacement.

Henceforth, discussion on 30 Days of Night (the movie) only...

So far, it appears to be receiving pretty mixed reaction. People either tend to dig it and have fun with it or completely hate it. On these forums it seems as if most came away liking the flick. I think they did a very good job of taking the look/feel of the graphic novel (the vampires, in particular) and translating it to film.

Best post ever :rotfl:rotfl:rotfl

Anyway, I just got back from this and it was great. One of the better vampire movies I've seen in a loooooooooooooooong time. It's a must see for any fan of vampire movies.

I actually didn't care for it all that much. It felt long as hell to me. I did love the shot over the town though.

At just under 2 hours, it probably could have used another edit or two.

And it looks like it's sputtering at the box office... $6.9 million is pretty paltry, especially when compared to the SAW IV numbers.

Yeah, those Saw movies are money machines. They make their budget back in the first weekend. Yeah, 30 days of Night felt every bit of its 2 hours to me. It honestly felt like 3.

I can agree with that. But I liked it a little better than Bannister did. It was a great graphic novel, but a good movie adaption.

I guess your opinion about the movie was offensive.

They shouldn't run so many damn coming attractions so I don't have to miss the last five minutes so I can get my kids from school.

I am not sure what happened with the last thread but I can fully state that I endorse product in question...

Okay, I loved the movie, it felt like a mix of the Dawn of the Dead re-make with John Carpenter's The Thing. Just instead of running from super zombies they are running from vampires. I believe that this is one of the best vampire movies in the last 10 years.
I understand that this is a series of graphic novels and if so I would love to see a sequel.

I would consider that a huge endorsement. IMHO, those are two of the best modern genre movies.

Have you seen it? I don't want to say something that would ruin the movie with giving my reasons why I feel that way.
If you haven't seen it and you like comics that were turned into movies then go and see it soon. Or you can wait for the Mist which looks unbelievable.

Yeah, I've seen it. It's quite flawed, but fun and a good adaptation of the graphic novel.

And I agree that "The Mist" looks fantastic. Darabont returning to his bread and butter: King adapations. :rock

I think the Mist will be another modern Stephen King classic like The Shawshank Redemption and The Green Mile.
And yes, the Thing and Dawn of the Dead are modern classics. Every zombie movie that comes out now I have to compare to Dawn.

Didn't get to see it afterall today... hopefully tomorrow. With the box office totals it probably won't stick around too long.

Although I did watch Eragon (Tivo'd it) today... what a hunk of turd :lol

Although i was looking forward to trick or treat this year instead, this movie satisfied my Halloween movie fix. 7/10
