Anybody else looking forward to this?

And more importantly, will Sideshow get the licence to create the
characters from this film, as they did previously on The Dark Crystal?

JS :)

Ugh 2008...we have to wait that long. Noooooooo!

I'm really looking forward to this sequel. Hopefully it can live up to the original (that I love so much). Can't wait, can't wait, can't wait.

I cannot wait. It's confirmed that Trevor Jones will write the score as well!

He did the original and it's great IMO.

I just hope there is not too much CGI going on.

The original is a classic, one of a kind movie.

I'm cautiously optimistic about this. I love the original and it seems like they have the right people on board... but that's a long time in between films and I wonder if the sequel will be able to capture the same feeling?

BTW- What are peoples feelings about the Dark Crystal figures. Every image I see of them looks odd and not all that great. Are the better in person or better left out of a collection?

While I LOVE The Dark Crystal, my expectations are very low for this film...I expect a lot of horrible CGI.

The origial movie is a masterpiece...one of a kind for sure.

My mind is made up.

I cannot wait to see it but my expectations are low because I love the original so much. Movies are not made the same as they were in the 80s so I doubt the "magic" will be there this time around.

The right people do look like they are involved though....you never know. Batman Begins really surprised me. ;)

I must say that one thing that sucks about growing old is the childhood excitement that used to come with watching movies when youre young.
Its still there as an adult, just doesnt have quite the punch though.

just might have to watch DC tonite now. its been awhile

It's really not about being a child but more of how the industry has changed.

It's a different era now of movies than the late 70s/early 80s style of films.

Anyway, back to topic, I really hope part 2 works out.

wooohooo!!! another great show by Genndy :rock I'm a fan and so far I love all his shows. :D

Shoot man. I guess Spring 2008 is a good long ways a way, but I'm sure it'll be worth it. They spent many years making the original, so I'll give them all the time they want. The puppets and the sets of the original were so amazing. A terribley underappreciated movie when it came out, but thankfully it's got a much larger cult following now, just like Labyrinth.

:drool Labyrinth

GIVE ME PREMIUM FORMAT JARETH NOW!!!!!....... minus the bulge

A lot of board members already know My thoughts on this:

BRING
IT
ON!

And SS, go for the license!!!!!!!!!!

I've read about this a while ago. And I dont know how I feel about it. The Dark Crystal is #1 on my most loved movies list. It's so incredibly stunning and beautiful. I dont see them redo Henson's magic in this sequal. I mean....when has a sequal ever been better then the original? Rarely, if at all. And by the sound of the story, it looks more like a rehashing of the original...

That beeing said, there's also positive things about it. Genndy has created excellent cartoons so far and him working together with Froud and the Henson company.....sounds fantastic! And the string of collectibles (fingers crossed for SideShow to get the license!!) it will create....oh man, I'd (hopefully) finally be able to have a Skeksis in my collection!!! And with some luck, they will bring out a new version of the original movie onto DVD, hopefully with loads of extra's this time.

So basically, I'm excited and nervous at the same time. They will not be able to touch the original (beeing my favourite movie of all time), but I'm hoping they will come pretty close!!

Updated info from ComicCon:

Jim Henson Company panel

- Power of the dark crystal directed by Genndy Tartakofsky.(creator of Dexter’s Lab, Samurai Jack, Star Wars:Clone war cartoons.) When asked to direct he had two questions. Is it going to be with puppets. And will Brian Froud be involved. When both were answered yes, he signed on.
- Frank Oz has an open invitation to be apart of the production. GT would love to work with him especially as a puppeteer.
- The sequel will take place beneath the world of the first one.

- Fraggle Rock movie is in the works.
- Henson company puppeteers are going on the road with a Puppet improv show.
- They showed a greeting video from the two character for a adult late night puppet show that will be premiering soon. Looked really lame. Imagine if blank and blank weren’t funny.
- Jim Henson Design is a clothing line based on Jim Henson sketchbook.

JS :D

And don't forget about the niffty figures (which I caught a glimpse at at one of the booths) that are being released of a few Dark Crystal characters. :chew
