Lions Gate Home Entertainment has announced an extended edition of The Punisher which stars Thomas Jane. The disc will be available to own from the 21st November, and should retail at around $19.98. The new cut of the film will include an additional seventeen minutes of material - presented in anamorphic widescreen, along with both English Dolby Digital 5.1 EX, and DTS 6.1 ES tracks. Extras will include an animated Kuwait deleted scene (which was originally slated to open The Punisher, and features Thomas Jane and Russell Andrews), a Punisher Comic Book gallery which allow viewers to click through a gallery of select past and present Marvel comic book covers, and a making of featurette.

Cool! I really liked Jane as The Punisher. He did a really good job, even if the script needed a little work. All in all it was still pretty cool, and did not forget the comics totally. I just wish it would have been more hardcore and violent. Like Ennis' Punisher.

I've heard good things about the possible sequel. Tom is a huge comics fan and wants to make the next movie much darker.....:devil

I was also a fan of the first, but like you said it should have been MUCH darker...Lets hope, if a sequel is made, its made right!

This may be heresy but I liked both this version and the original Dolph lundgren. As much as Dolph can't act he made a pretty good Punisher - and the character was very true to the comic book.

I've only seen the Dolph version once and that was probably 15 years ago on VHS...I really cant remember anything about, or how I felt when I watched it...Perhaps I'll hunt it down on DVD and give it a view.

oh yeah its already been approved. its in pre-production now and in an interview Jane revealed he started hitting the gym again to get back in the same shape he was in for the first movie.

Lions Gate Home Entertainment have announced the Region 1 DVD release of The Punisher (Extended Cut) for 21st November 2006 priced at $19.98 SRP. This new DVD release features over 17 minutes of all-new footage integrated into the film. These new scenes apparently shed additional light on the storyline, while the disc also includes a “one-of-a-kind extra” – an animated version of “The Kuwait Scene,” which was originally slated to open the film but was never shot due to budgetary constraints. Illustrated by The Punisher artist Tim Bradstreet, the dynamic and impressionistic action sequence stars Thomas Jane and Russell Andrews. Viewers will have the option of playing the animation before the picture begins so the scene can be appreciated within its original planned context.

Additional all-new extras are also included…

* Anamorphic Widescreen Presentation
* English DD5.1 EX & DTS-ES 6.1 Surround
* English & Spanish subtitles
* Animated Kuwait deleted scene – created specifically for this DVD release
* “Tour of Duty – Making the Extended Cut” featurette
* The Punisher comic book gallery
* All-new Tim Bradstreet illustrations

Kewl. I loved the recent flick. Jane was awesome as the Punisher and the movie was a perfect throwback to the action movies of the 80s.

An nice one to double dip on.

I love the case. The movie is good too so I think I may finally buy it. All I have to say is that usually when a Marvel movie is cut down, the extended cuts are infinatly better. Take Daredevil, movie was savaged and I just thought it was so-so, but the extended cut... amazing. I can't wait to see how good this cut is.
