From the director of Paranormal Activity,Oren Peli, and executive producer, Steven Spielberg, comes a suspenseful drama series about an explorer who goes missing and the attempt made by his wife, son and others to track him down. The River will premiere early 2012 on ABC.

Saw an ad for this last night and it was the first I heard of it. It looks interesting enough to give it a chance.

Here is a longer promo I found on Youtube. I can't get it to embed for some reason though.

Hmm, well, guess we'll see. Not sure if I am all that interested. But I wont know till I see a few episodes.

I remember watching the trailer for this a couple months ago. Looks good. Except the ____ty paranormal activity style cinematography.

You don't like the camera work? :dunno

I think PA is one of ____tiest movies ever made. Right after Napoleon Dynamite.

And with this they have to create useless characters to have the ____ty style of filmmaking in the show. Let me guess. . . in order to have camera's all over the boat in every corner of the room and guys with camera on their shoulders just to have a POV, handycam style its gonna be " Hey John, let me make a documentary of you on your quest to find your dad."In which John replies "Ok, guy that doesn't need to be in the story but is just so the film makers can depict the story unconventionally."

And it'd be one thing if it was done like Cloverfield. That would be great. But no.

Well, I guess we'll have to disagree. I liked PA, but I have to admit that I'm biased about the paranormal. :D

I will agree on Napoleon Dynamite though.

Glad this got a bump. I'll give it a whirl. I agree about the cinematography not being my favorite, but I won't judge it until I've seen it in context. That was just a promo.

I think we need more adventurer type shows. I know this is paranormal but hope it retains that adventure feel throughout. If not, I'll likely stop watching it.
