Never read the books but I've always been aware of it. Cast looks good, will check it out.

I've been looking forward to this! I started reading The Sandman several years ago, and I bought all of the Absolute Editions last year. It's a different type of comic series. But, if you're into literature and existentialist philosophy, it's definitely worth checking out.

The cast looks stellar. Pretty cool that Charles Dance is casted, too.

If there's ONE property that was all about equity and inclusion from the very start, it's Sandman. But no. Not good enough in current year.

Meh. They can do whatever they want. It'll be as **** as the American Gods show turned out to be.

I'll just ignore it, like I ignored "Preacher" and I'll ignore "Y: The Last Man" if that ever gets made. (Watch them make the last man a woman and completely eradicate the very point of the series.)

Everything is better with Charles Dance. The man just oozes gravitas and authority.

Can't really complain, since Gaiman has direct hand in the series as well as casting decisions. Just happy for anything Sandman, it's been long overdue.

"Critics" that are bought and paid for to fawn over every new release have given this high praise? Shocking!!

Everybody should judge for themself.

As a lifelong fan of Dream and the Endless, all I felt was disgust and embarrassment. Neil should be ashamed of himself for allowing his magnum opus to be reduced to such forgettable disposable trash.

Clearly there are millions of people all over the world that are perfectly happy watching poorly written and poorly acted crap, day in and day out.

I have no idea what someone that's never read the books will feel about this show. Most of the things that looked so beautiful and other-worldly in the comic book are just reduced to the same old shiny/fakey flat CGI crap we've been seeing for the last 20 years. The Dreaming deserves better than to just be cranked out by tired overworked CGI artists. It just looks like leftovers from the "Narnia" movies.

The guy playing Morpheus was another flop in my opinion. Morpheus works so well on the page, but he just comes off cringey as hell in real life.

Death? No comment.

Lucifer? Such a piss-poor acting performance I felt genuine embarrassment for Brienne of Tarth.

Tired, predictable voiceovers by Patton Oswalt and Mark Hamill? Ugh, we get it already, you guys are "geeks." So what, let someone else have a turn.

Maybe it's one of those books that's just unfilmable. It just needed to stay on the comics pages and not ever be attempted in "live action."

I'm sure other people will like it. Maybe Sandman fans will "like it" too...or at least convince themselves they like it cause they know this is all they'll ever get.

I got the series and watched the first episode.

It didn't grab me at all so I dumped it. Barely made it to the end of the first episode because it was so nondescript.

So I started on the Paper Girls series instead, which came out the week before. It's from another comic book I've never read, apart from having a brief look into, but I gradually found it more a lot more engaging than The Sandman.

I finished Paper Girls an hour ago.

Slow to get going, but the lighting in the night scenes got my attention, and I gradually got into the story. It became so intriguing that by the end I wished there was a second season.

Yeah, it's a decent sci-fi, I enjoyed it. Haven't read the comic though.

I slogged through a few episodes of Sandman. Gave up on it.

• It's excruciatingly slow without building up to much.
• It's bland and depressing, from the bleak, washed out production design to the acting.
• It's like American Gods on half a bottle of Valium and a bottle of cheap rye.

(If you've seen American Gods you'll note that yes -- it's even worse).

Gaiman's work in general has a very dated quality to it that they seem to insist on reproducing to mind-numbing effect in other media.
