Didn't Merle get away with using a particular racial slur a few times? Or did they bleep it out when they were originally aired? I can't remember.

Yeah, I really disliked Merle in the first season (I guess he was only really in 1 episode right?) but by the time season 3 rolled around I ended up quite liking him. But boy I was so glad when they left his handcuffed butt on that roof originally :lol

There still using his name in the credits, maybe they haven't been paying him for that? If profit sharing was part of his original contract, firing him doesn't make that stipulation go away.

the Article states that they were not paying him what they were supposed to because of making the show themselves and promoting it or something like that. There is some weird deal where Darabont was left out of the money the show makes.
So it is not just Darabont crying over spilled Milk.

I missed the witty banter you and CP provided. Wait, that's not it...

It's not polite to mention CP anymore... how dare you.

I'm with you. Maybe Darabont pushed too hard for what he wanted, but I'm willing to bet there is more to the story than what we know, and that AMC is just as guilty of being stubborn. After all, haven't we already gone through two show runners? You gotta think there's something wrong going on.

Like I was saying before. Darabont even dropped his plans for Zombie back stories. He was ready to make season 2 their way. He gave up on his ideas AND they still fired him after he was going to do season 2 anyway.

So yeah I definitely think there is more to the story. Or like Devil said, They didn't want to keep paying him what he asked and they cut him from the show. Either way I dont see how Darabont is the bad guy in all of this when AMC keeps cutting budget and messing with the actors

Darabont is the bad guy because he's no longer attached to TWD, and, as you know, TWD is the greatest show to grace our televisions, so we have to automatically side against him.

Even if the show was 100x better when he was part of it. Oh well. :dunno

seeing how season 1 is the best season i do miss him lol :lol

Thank god this new guy is getting things back on track now. I really hope AMC doesn't get rid of him....:monkey4

Debatable. The second half of season two is my favorite.

Which is after he left :lol

I don't think the show's showrunners have really had any affect on the show one way or another. They're just managing the process. Its really the writing and the stories we're getting that sway the show one way or another. Granted the showrunners do help with the writing, but I don't really think they impact the show as much as the main writers do. I mean frankly I couldn't say "oh, this must have been when they booted Frank out" during season 2. And I'm not like "oh, Glen is definitely gone now" with this season. If anything episode directors have more impact on the show than the showrunners.

Personally I've found Nicotero directed episodes to be some of the best. Not only does he know how to best use the zombie effects, but he has a pretty good eye for the camera in general. He's not just the make up guy most people originally thought of him as when the show started.

At the earliest I would think. We got 3 1/2 seasons out of the First Compendium. Negan only starts to get mentioned at the end of the second Compendium, but doesn't appear until a few issues outside of that second compendium. So if they use the same pacing, it would be season 7 when we could see him for the first time. And I think it might take that long. I don't imagine they'll want to out pace their source material if the show remains hot. If it starts to dwindle, they can introduce Negan early and have him take out Daryl for some dramatic boots in ratings :lol

I honestly don't see them having the long period in between the Governor and Negan. He won't show up right away, but I still think he's going to be early. He'll definitely be in season 6 but probably only mentioned at the end of season 5.

The whole to Washington will probably drastically shortened. Daryl will probably meet Glenn's end in the comic.

Comic Spoilers
They'll milk the cannibals for a whole season to build up tension, as you mentioned, there's also the whole Dr. Porter/Washington DC plot and and lets not forget, they still have to find the Sanctuary first and then there's Douglas and Alexandria. That's not even accounting for a possible return to Hershall's farm and potentially a return to get Morgan.

There's still a LOT of story before Negan makes his appearance. And honestly, it'd be a mistake to use him this close to the Governor. I think BM was fair on his assessment. If anything, Season 6 will end like the second Compendium with a mention of him as the teaser for Season 7.

I think he shouldn't be thrown in so fast definitely, but who knows where AMC wants to take it. If they stick him in S5 I'm done :lol

the only problem I see is if AMC feels afraid about how long the show will last and they decide to bring him in sooner just in case they don't get to go to a season 7 or 8 or something... I mean, I know it is the biggest show on television and it seems likely that it will go on and on, but you never know. Specially since I recall hearing how AMC was losing money Even with WD's popularity.

There were rumors about Universal buying AMC in the future too, which would help. But, who knows.

I was thinking the same exact thing, I know it sucks but I still think they will rush him.

Its funny but when I read Negan's parts in the comic books I hear Michael Rook's voice. :lol

Be a great role for David Morse.

Nah, the fact that they keep letting go of dead weight shows they're in for the long haul. It's funny how you guys think they'll rush him in when you were whining about the many episodes of them looking for Sophia in the woods. So if they do, we know who to blame. :pfft:
