This has always been one of Sideshow's best and strongest product lines. I'm really hoping SDCC will be unveiling some amazing new Star Wars stuff.

#1 hope: Jabba's band - Sy Snootles and the Max Rebo band

I hope they're just holding back due to the new movie release of SDCC '08. All these other non-star wars sideshow announcements are driving me nuts!

I think we still are yet to see the best from Sideshow in regards to this line. With the upcoming release of Vader and possibly more armoured figures this line still has a long way to go. With the new body designed for armoured figures any new Star Wars figures from Sideshow are going to be outstanding.

I am sure we are yet to see some more surprises from Sideshow, and this may include some large scale items hopefully. Jabba's band scene might not be out the question. As with the whole Jabba throne setup and even to the extent the Hot Toys Tumbler, people are willing to buy these large 1/6 items.

Sideshow need to take some of Hot Toys inspiration and produce a 1/6 Landspeeder, now that would be nice :rock

Why would anybody want Sideshow to lose this license

With the increasing prices, I'm glad things are slown down, I like to get most of their Star Wars offerings, especially the 1/6th, but even those are shooting high in price, keep it slow and affordable I say.

Ok boys behave...no need to start another arguement on this forum, there's enough of that as it is right now.

I really hope some new stuff does materialise for the SW Licence, as i am growing really bored of Prequal movie items and re-hashes of Han, Luke and Leia...there's a entire GALAXY of interesting characters both in the films and in the EU that could be used for interesting figures...

Oh, and as much as i love the SW line...i still cannot forgive Sideshow for the pathetic release that was "Snow Bunny Padme"...sorry they wasted what could have been a NEW figure on a stupid skit from a pathetic cartoon. Its a shame the first Padme figure had to be something so...boring and useless.

I am an avid collector of Sideshow Star wars figures and I have been very happy with the sideshow production of the SW line,,,,thus far,,,,

Couldn't agree more. I think that what Sideshow has produced so far has been awesome, especially for the price.

We should all be grateful that Sideshow still have the licence as they resurrected the whole Star Wars 12" line back into the realm of proper collectibles :rock

That is something I have to agree with you on :)

There have been a few hit and misses, and to some a few questionable choices of figure, but hey, aren't most lines like this? At least they have made some figures that we never thought would be made, ever.

Couldnt agree more, the head sculpt looks very close but perhaps they should have gone for a Queen Amidala or something of the like?? Just a thought:lsvader

I'll agree with you there Zed if they decide to release EU characters like Corran Horn, Kyle Katarn and Kyp Durron, Talon Karrde, Thrawn ect...sadly...i doubt it'll ever happen...i doubt we'll ever see a Mara Jade Skywalker in there either, just more Prequals characters...all in the weird "Snow Bunny" costume!!!!

RUN!!!...RUN AND HIDE!!!

Lando Calrissian skiff guard, A Hoth Trooper, Greedo - there are loads more fairly main steam characters to go for.
But Sideshow need to up their game, it's a given that most upcoming figures should use the new bodies which is good,
but the price hike is bad when you consider the quality is the same now as it was with Jedi Luke.
If SS continue to raise prices but keep the same quality i'd prefer Hottoys to get the licence, yeah we'd have to pay more but the releases would still be spread out & i imagine would be the greatest 1/6th star wars figures ever produced.

Maybe some people don't consider Sideshow to be as deserving of all the praise they get and instead think another company (eg Hot Toys) could do a far better job particularly where 1/6 Star Wars figures are concerned because while there have been the occasional nice ones like Jabba & co and ANH Obi-Wan Sideshow's are generally very inconsistent in quality.
When they were first announced some members suggested that the new bodies and armored characters leveled the playing field with Hot Toys but until Sideshow can replicate the consistency of Hot Toys 1/6 output over the last 18 months then such claims are laughable because right now they are doing well if they manage 2 consecutive figures of the same standard.

You are correct in saying that Hot Toys would make a very impressive line of Star Wars 1/6 collectables and yes there have been a few Sideshow figures that are a little under par, but I will give them credit for bringing 1/6 Star Wars figures back too life. Sideshow make great figures, it would still be great to see an offering from Hot Toys though.............:vader:vader

I think it's arguable if it's SS best line.

I'm slowly turning away form the SS SW line. Sure I will still continue to get any PF and 1/4 I like, but they just aren’t a priority for me anymore. I agree The Rebo Band would be nice. I would much rather see a licence that has never been done justice or done before.

I really am hoping Sideshow puts out the Max Rebo Band though so I don't have to buy the out of scale to other 1:6 sideshow the Gentle Giant sculpture set. It's VERY well done, but is just out of place to the scale of the rest of the Sideshow stuff. Consistency is important.

I LOVE Sideshow's quality. I don't have everything of theirs, but of what I do have I am not disappointed at all. $799 was a lot for a PF Speeder Bike, but it is the best damn Speeder Bike w/Scout I've ever seen. They seriously go all out on the premiums.

I also agree though... There's far more to offer to the line than endless Leias, Lukes, Hans. There are so many COOL ALIENS from the trilogy to add. Return of the Jedi alone has a massive catalog of some of the coolest looking creatures of all the films: Ree Yees, Squid Head, Amanaman, Weequay, Gammorean Guard, Admiral Ackbar, Yak Face.... I mean take your pick.. there's so many options in the creature line that beg to get made. There's still a long way yet to go for Sideshow and I hope they continue to make stuff. They are what completely drove me away from Hasbro toys as the quality was far superior. I'm a quality over quantity guy.

i think hot toys would make awesome star wars 1/6 figures, but at their price point i'll pass and stick with Predator figures from them. i know that if they produced SW figures the prices would be jacked up. sorry, but at the current prices for the 1/6 figures...if you don't like, don't buy. its the only way to show SS that we aren't happy with their quality control. back when they were $60-70 a piece i really couldn't ^^^^^ about the quality when Medicom was $150 a piece, but now that SS is getting close to the $100 marker, i just voice my opinion with my wallet.

With the price point moving upwards, I guess we just have to be selective in what we purchase. It will be great to get everything from a particular line but in life, decisions always need to be made and choices prioritize.

But I still hope that SS will release some EU figures. For PT figures, a Count Dooku will be great, IMHO. For EU, I would love to get a Mara Jade or maybe even an Anakin Solo since SS now has the small 1/6 body used for the Hobbits.

I still get all the 1/6 scale figures but I'm not as excited as I used to be about their arrival. For me to get really into this line again they'll have to make an alien creature, preferably from A New Hope. I needs me a Greedo or Hammerhead right away.

I'm hoping that a Cantina environment (booth... bar... etc.) a la Jabba Throne will be announced and those Cantina aliens can finally take centre stage. Greedo, Hammerhead, Walrus face:lol... We need them all.
