I was thinking about picking up a Zune and decided to ask for opinions on it. I already have a MP3 player but wouldn't mine having one that also plays videos. So what is the opinion of the people that have one OR had one?

Plus which is the better one to get:

30GB - $199.99
8GB - $199.99 *New Smaller ones*
4GB - $149.99 *New Smaller ones*

I have a 30GB Zune and just bought a second 30GB one for my wife for $95 at buy.com. The video quality is not super, but sufficient. The sound quality is fantastic and the latest firmware upgrade is much nicer.

The software now enables you to sync between computer and Zune (BOTH ways)...where before it only let you go from PC to Zune, the new software enable you so sync in either direction. This helps immensely if you have music on multiple computers...my wife and I have music on each of our own pcs...some the same, but some different.

I like my Zune, but I do not use all of the features...it does what I want it to and plays great music when I am at work and easily connects to my home stereo to play throughout the house.

80gig iPod is where is is at.

I've messed with several brands and sized players and they all pale next to a ipod.

www.woot.com just had "new refurbished" 30 gig Zunes for $90 shipped a week or two ago, they put them up frequently. Its a cool site, check it out.

Aren't the monthly charges for these things pretty expensive? I was paying like $80/month for phone and internet access for my Q, and I just couldn't justify it. Does the Zune and iPhone cost around that?

eh, it cost's monthly to use it? Thought I could just use it without having to sign up or anything. I know it costs money if you wanna buy something from their marketplace.

Well at work today I noticed that the brown 30GB Zune was down to $130 now, but also found out that the 80GB Zune was $250. So for about $120 more I could get 50GB more, a bigger screen for the videos, and touch pad thing to scroll through menus.

Think its worth it to go ahead and pick up the 80GB?

I absolutely love my Zune especially since it now supports podcasts. I still use itunes and the fact that i can use my MS points for game content on Xbox live and Zune marketplace is great. I have tons of stuff loaded and am not even half full yet. You won't go wrong with getting one. I have the 30gig model and my wife has a pink 30 gig which she loves. I have had no problems with it (knock on wood) so far and it hold a charge for a long time. They are also making more and more accessories with it. The 30 gig model has my vote.

There is no monthly fee unless you get a zune pass which is ok if you buy a ton of music but I would just get microsoft points and then you can use them for Xbox live content or at the marketplace. The pass is like 15 a month though. I see no reason to have one.

My wife just bought me an 80gig, though I wasn't even sure I wanted one....

Anyone know of some free software that will rip my DVDs onto this thing? The Zune website is asking $44 for one season of the old Incredible Hulk series!

do some research before buying anything... i have an iphone so i have an ipod, but there are better players out there. the ipod and zune are good, but you can get something else cheaper if you want just "music"...and probably have better audio playback quality too.
