Apparently Waititi based Korg off these Polynesian bouncers who have the biggest muscles in town but the tiniest little voices. The "Piss off, Ghost" line got the biggest laughs from the crowd in my showing. :lol

Also, I might've missed it but is Goldblum's character, Grandmaster, related to the Collector from GOTG somehow?

Yeah, the Grandmaster and Collector are brothers. That's why I'm dying to see them together + both of them crack me up.

I don't understand what was so bad in Thor?
Watching it right now on FX, and i think it was charming. Never liked Darcy, but it was a solid flick. Thors naivety matches pretty well to Gadot's WW.

People keep saying that no one utilizes Hemsworth humor, but he did a good job in Thor and TDW.

IMO you're right - "solid" flicks - I re-watch now and again - but just seemed to not have that spark that = great. Natalie Portman's Jane never seemed to have great chemistry in part with Hemsworth; I think Hemsworth got better as an actor as time went on; fun, but not wildly funny; some pacing problems. IMO Thor is better than TDW.

The general complaints about Thor 1 are:

*Thor doesn't truly hit rock bottom

*Thor doesn't have his powers for the majority of his screen time

*Parts of it are allegedly boring

*Jane is a "meh" character (which I actually agree with)

...and I know there are others, but those are generally the big four. Thor 1 is actually my second favorite MCU installment although I totally see where some of the comic fans' gripes stem from.

As for TDW - I didn't have any problem with Hemsworth's performance in that film, but I thought the film itself was really cliched even by MCU standards. After ******'s funeral it feels like a whole different film and takes a massive downward spiral. I can only watch the first 50 minutes on repeat, and those first 50 minutes are the only reason it resides in my DVD collection. :lol

My only problem now is that we have seen Dr Strange, i want dormammu to come out and destroy everything.

Honestly the only part that had me laughing was the whole entire Goodbye Doug sequence.

I'm not sure either but I like every movie that's widely disliked here, so WTF do I know :lol (clearly none of these are perfect movies but I've liked mostly everything from both the MCU & DCEU so far)

I really enjoyed the first Thor and like DW a lot too

I prefer Waititi’s humor over Gunn’s.

I’m the opposite I think this movie blew away GOTG1 when it comes to spectacle.

Thor had his most amazing moments in this film than any other MCU movie he’s been in.

There were set pieces he was in that could be framed and hung on a wall they were so gorgeous to behold.

The spaceship escape battle was great fun.

Hela is the best designed and visually appealing villain in the MCU.

His return to full power at the climax was glorious to behold against that Zepplin song playing.

I still can’t believe that
Matt Damon and Sam Neill
were in this freaking movie!

This is now in my top 5 of MCU movies.

Wow, didn't realize they were in the movie! I didn't know that was them until I just looked it up

Really? This over Guardians??? Interesting

I think Guardians was composed much better than this. G1 had a progressive story with multiple scenes and settings that unfolded excellently, and had some heartfelt things that came full-circle. It also had it's own special brand of comedy but it was way more balanced than Ragnarok. Weaved within all the visuals and comedy was a much more impactful and powerful movie. Ragnarok was split in half; the happenings on Sakaar and the happenings on Aasgard. Too much of what was happening on Sakaar was too goofy for my taste and took Thor out of character (or the character he was before Hemsworth got bored), and that goofiness sucked out any gravitas of what was going on in Aasgard. I've enjoyed the level of comedy in every MCU movie so far, but this took it too many notches up without enough gravity to balance and anchor it.

I definitely am in full agreement with the visuals. I'd appreciate an art print from just about any scene of this movie

I'm seeing this again on Sunday in IMAX 2D (it may have lost points for seeing it in 3D for the first viewing). I'm sure some things will change for the better as the often do with me, but certain things definitely won't as I do like these movies to be more evenhanded with seriousness and comedy.

Well, saw this last night. What to say...

It's a stupid movie that has lots of charm. Like, there's really cool moments and you're mostly absolutely invested throughout but there's also moments where you just kinda stop and come to accept that this is a stupid movie so you should quite literally stop hoping that something meaningful will make an appearance.

It def works as a comedy and Hemsworth is pretty funny. I'd say 80% of the gags work.

Blanchett is great, just wish she had material that was more serious.

Overall the best of the Thor franchise which isn't saying much. Stylistically a dramatic improvement over the previous two and you can see the film's flavor definitely draws from Flash Gordon & the GOTG franchise.

Entertaining, charming, stupid.

8/10

He likes it. Hey Mikey.

Fans were loving this movie in the theater it was a great group experience.

The humor just felt mostly natural.

Oh and everyone laughed at the JL trailer.

Not WiTH.....but AT!

TLJ 3D trailer got all Ooooo’s and Aaaaa’s.

I only think the Immigrant Song should have been in Thor 1, how it took three movies to use shocks me .

If you aren't enjoying the movie by the time the Loki Death Play takes place , you're simply not going to like movie .

Seriously the MCU is decent, but wait until Marvel finally re-acquires their other franchises back from the other studios, we all know the big Reboot is coming once the Xmen, FF, and the rest of the lot come back...

I just watched this and I spent the entire movie repeating the words "This is reddit, this is memes, this is reddit, this is memes..." under my breath.

I ****ing hated it. I was writhing around on the floor in front of my sofa for the last 30 minutes it was so painful.

Ayy quirky characters and comedy jokes the movie, lol fun lmao. Awful.

I give it a 9/10

Guardians > Thor III

Star Lord doing a dance off is fine, but Chris Hemsworth playing Thor off as a parody like he would on a late night show was downright strange. Stop making movies Marvel.

Ordering my tickets for Infinity Wars Part 1/3 as soon as they go up for sale.

Just got back.... I pretty much hated it... I was prepared for a comedy but did not find it funny thus it just annoyed me... Every moment was played for a laugh.

Hulk was wasted again... I mean I am fine with him getting his ass kicked by Thor.. It is his movie... But give him a moment or two to shine at the end... Instead he fights a dog off screen and never really fights a monster though the trailer made it look like it would be a highlight. Just like AOU Hulk does nothing but get his ass licked and then do nothing during the climax... How long ago was TIH and Avengers?? Please Russo brothers.. Get Hulk right again.

If I was a huge Thor fan I would be furious at what they made the character in this.. Screaming when he gets his hair cut... Blah.. I laughed when he was on the Sakaar chair.... But they just kept making him too wimpy. He did get three moments to shine and two of those moments used the Zeppelin song perfectly... If I was a huge Thor fan I would have been happy to see him kick Hulks butt also..

I liked the Thor and Hulk banter... Man the CGI of Hulk in the Bedroom was awful though..

Now I was not expecting a true Planet Hulk story... But I did not expect them to **** all over the story.. It was a complete waste.. In fact, other then creating the Revengers, Planet Sakaar was worthless and nothing of importance happened on it. 1 hour of basically nothing. I wish they did not call the planet Sakaar, there really was no reason other then to piss all over the story.

Cate Blanchett was wasted and any emotional drama should could have brought to the film was ruined by goofy one liners also.

Jeff Goldblum was the best part and I should not be saying that about a Marvel movie.

For me its a toss up between AOU, IM3 and this film for which is the worst Marvel film. I would throw Dr. Strange in there also but that has more to do with my lack of caring about that character then anything else...

So to recap. I liked the two Thor / Zeppelin scenes. I liked Hulk and Thor Room conversation. and there was a joke or two that worked. Everything else was bad IMO. If the Humor works for you I can see this being enjoyable.. If not then you are going to be like me and Hate it I think..I don't think this film will not stand the test of time... Mark my words.

My review:

I rate MCU movies on their connections to the MCU at large more specifically the importance leading up to IW and then I give my opinion on the movie itself.

Ok so...

Lead up to IW: FAIL! Just like with GOTG2 a huge let down as to why these events matter to the Thanos plot WHO MARVEL STATED IS THE MAIN VILLAIN OF THE MCU!

Movie itself: Solid fun time and unlike the flat lifelessness Doctor Strange movie Thor 3 is worthy of the critics high praises.

My favorite part of the movie:

How mind numbing gorgeous and sexy Blanchett was as Hela.

Goddess of Death is right if you are a male she will own you.

I literally couldn’t take my eyes off her.

JUST HER SEXINESS ALONE MAKES THIS MOVIE A WIN IN MY BOOK!

JUST THE WAY SHE MOVES HER FREAKING HAND WILL GIVE YOU A BONER!

Valkyrie was also sexy in her end costume just not Hela sexy.

The rest of the movie was entertaining enough while you wait to see Hela again.

Thor flying was bad ass.

Some of the visual were drop dead gorgeous!

Great use of the immigrant song happy to see it used so effectively BUT the soundtrack itself was almost non existent blah.

But that song nailed it when it was needed to be used, perfect!

Ya know I look at this review and don't disagree as I think you point out the highlights.. Problem is there was a lot more movie there then just those highlights and I hated it :(

Yeah I hear ya this is a movie where I can totally respect those that hated it

I didn’t walk in expecting Planet Hulk so that didn’t bother me.

Little things like Valkyrie’s cool ship and how sexy she looked sitting in her pilot chair made the movie enjoyable for me.

I simply had a fun time watching this certainly more than Thor 2 and Dr. Strange even though the movie had many missed opportunities to make it even better.

Funny enough Dr. Strange was very cool in this. He looked awesome in that costume floating in front of his window.

Wow. I'm fairly disappointed and I still can't say I hated it. But I hope a lot more of those feelings start swirling around the internet. I don't wish failure on it but I want Team-Anti-Team-Thor's voice to be heard. Hopefully they'll steer away from the overload of goofy crap going forward
