Woops i just got back from a Stargate all day convention and i waited hours in line for signatures (longest being Richard Dean Anderson). I am very tired. :lol

Nah, s'all. I did a 1hr trek to meet with a professor who forgot all about the meeting and left, so I know how you feel.

Did you notice the Stan Lee cameo bro?

Ha-Ha whose life-force is he gonna steal next?! That crazy ol' hairdresser and his wacky shaving knives!

So pretty much people LOVE it or HATE it. If thats not risky on marvel's part i dont know what is[emoji23] and i still dont get why people still complain about RT. Its so simple. 93% of critics gave it a 6+. Look at the average score. Its pretty much in the 7. Like wonder woman and spiderman etc.

And i think if you didn't like Ragnarok because of jokes/humor I definitely think you will not like IW. Between Thor, gotg and Tony you will be pouting through the while movie

Humor is fine just not the whole movie and not at the wrong times.

There was lots of postives about this movie ( i am ignoring it is not comic book accurate otherwise i would hate it) don't get me wrong its a good fun movie they just overdid the comedy by a long shot in my opinion. To others it might be fine each to their own.

Yeah i get it. For me personally there are only 2 mcu movies that overdid it with humor/jokes were age of ultron and gotg2.

Personally, I loved it. I laughed my ass off throughout 90% of the movie. Goldblum’s a ****ing treasure and I was nearly in tears whenever Korg was on screen. Waititi’s humor just connected with me. I also was enthralled with each of the action scenes. Now, for me, the true measure of a good comedy is how it holds up upon repeat viewings, which I guess l’ll begin to find out Sunday when I head in for Round 2.

At the end of the day, though, nothing is more subjective than comedy, so, I can totally understand why it’s getting the “love/hate” reactions that it is, because we can’t help what we think is funny. Since this movie is, basically, a two hour bombardment of joke after joke, if they fall flat, it’s gonna suck.

One thing that did bug me in the movie was that the characters suffered from that typical fluctuating power levels so prevalent in superhero movies.

One second Thor can take on Surtur then next second he’s struggling with a few grunts.

Oh well that’s minor when compared to some of the relationship nuances that were glossed over in a rush to get to the next joke.

But still, i’m the kind of fan this movie was made for.

I’m easily impressed and satisfied with modern cinematic superhero action that looks like it leaped off the comic book pages I read as a kid.

Sometimes i’m in the mood for the serious themes and nuances from TDK and sometimes i’m in the mood for a visually striking cartoon action that is on display in Thor 3.

Sure one can argue that a marriage of both styles (TDK level seriousness / Thor 3 visuals and action) would’ve been epic but that was not meant to be.

For now i’ll gladly revisit this movie at the theater.

Who knows maybe JL will be the movie to finally give us that perfect marriage of superior TDK adult drama and visually striking cartoon action we are all so desperately seeking lol

Yeah I hear ya this is a movie where I can totally respect those that hated it

I didn’t walk in expecting Planet Hulk so that didn’t bother me.

Little things like Valkyrie’s cool ship and how sexy she looked sitting in her pilot chair made the movie enjoyable for me.

I simply had a fun time watching this certainly more than Thor 2 and Dr. Strange even though the movie had many missed opportunities to make it even better.

Funny enough Dr. Strange was very cool in this. He looked awesome in that costume floating in front of his window.

I knew not to expect planet hulk.. I just did not expect them to **** on the story like they did..

I knew what I was going into from the reviews... But the comedy just did not work for me.

I would have been fine if every dramatic scene had a punchline that made me laugh but most of them fell short.

I laughed once really hard. It was the first time Thor walked up to Hulk in the Arena and said "Hey big guy. Suns getting really low"

As for how it is compared to Dr. Strange... It is more watchable that is for sure. I have even been slightly tempted to watch that again. I don;t know if it's because of the character himself, the movie, or the subject matter... All of it was just meh to me.

I am going to have to watch Thor 2 again... If I recall I just hate all the human characters in that one but I like the film as a whole.

Jye, you just have the amazing superpower to be able to fall into whatever film you are watching and appreciate for what it is... I almost envy you ;)

See my post above and yes you should be jealous and envious of my powers lol

I literally addressed your post before you even posted it lol.

Btw i’m not a hater of TDW like most are.

I think you me and kara are the only 3 that find some good in it BUT Thor 3 is exactly how I want my Thor to be visually presented.

Kind of surprised by all the negativity the film is gathering online. I've always liked comic Thor but, honestly, I think film Thor is superior. I think the character works better as(let's face it, this is what he is) a comedic, goofy take on He-man.

This I can agree with... But I thought they did a better job of that in all the other Films Thor appears in. Oh well... Glad you enjoyed it.

If all the action was as good as the two Zeppelin scenes then I may have been able to have more fun. But I thought the action was average at best beyond that.

I think once the slapstick comedy wears off, fans of this will be left with nothing because the story is really bad imo and will hurt repeat viewing.

You get a few scenes with the Godess of Death that progresses the story. But everything else was slapstick filler.

Oh and why waste my time with Karl Urban... Blah.... Waste of time character who also had a stupid payoff scene.. Where did he pull those guns from?

This film reminded me of Iron Man 3 a lot.. It played against being a true Superhero film and tried to go against expectations.. Problem is both film failed at being any good IMO... Critics love it but fans hate it. I know this one has it's fans but so did IM3. However most of them eventually came over to the Dark side with me ;) ;) :)

Oh well I could be wrong.. Perhaps I will enjoy it more with a second viewing.. That has been known to happen also. Or we all happily agree to disagree :)

Well, at least he's on Fege's radar...:

Aka fallin' into pitful of crap and bein' able swim there like fish in the water.
Yeah... no envy here. :D

I found the humor and whimsical attitude of the film consistent with Watiki's other films, as well as fellow New Zealander Peter Jackson. Culturally, their humor is generally sweeter and simpler than American or British humor, which is maybe why the comedy didn't work for me. I also thought the emphasis on comedy sapped the emotional drama out of the movie. I admire Marvel for taking risks with new directors, but in this case it was a bad fit.
